Is it possible to move the screen (the actual glass bit)? Considering it doesn't have the aluminium next to it it would seem like you could slide it :p. And can you please hook your PS3 up to it, I am very interested in seeing how it works with the PS3.

I did try hooking it up to my PS3 but the screen input feature is not working yet or does not work with a PS3.

The fans on this computer are near silent. I am pushing it right now and it is making almost NO sound at all. I used to a have your computer and it was a noisy bastard.

2 questions for you billyripkin...

What do you mean by pushing it? I am almost ready to drop the hammer on picking up the 27" iMac but Im not sure if I should wait for the QC to become available. I do some video editing and rendering and a lot of creative suite apps... in your experience, does the CDC handle everything you have thrown at it?

Also, Im still fairly new to Macs. I have an early 09 MBP which I love but Im still not sure on some things. You mentioned having HD_DVD rips on your iMac, where and how do you do that? I try ripping with Handbrake and nothing ever looks Crystal Clear on my MBP, it looks good, but not like yours.

Anyway, thanks for the pics, it looks amazing!

I heard this product doesnt work for PS3 to iMac conversion, you need a powered one instead. Anyone know for sure?

The product isn't out yet but the description sounds like it would work for the PS3.

Coming soon ! Belkin’s new HDMI to Mini DisplayPort Adapter allows you to view HD content from your Blu-ray player, PS3, or cable box on your Apple LED-backlit widescreen monitor.

nice find! i wonder how much powered adapters like the belkin will go for. $100? $200?

I think it's safe to assume this was the adapter CNET was referring to that would ship in January.

CNET managed to get it to work in Windows on the Mac playing a Blu-Ray: http://www.cnet.com/8301-18603_1-10381850-73.html?tag=TOCmoreStories.0

I def would wait for the adapter though I think they did it just so they could say they were the first to do it. Anyways did the OP ever explain who sent it UPS or FedEx cuz I actually hate both with a great passion, but I actually know where the UPS warehouse is (just in case Im asleep I work nights)

Now that all my info is transferred over here is a HD-DVD rip playing at full screen.

So far the increase is speed is hard to tell since I have no run anything intensive on the computer but I have noticed it runs multiple apps that a processor intensive well at the same time. The magic mouse is very cool to use. It feels like using my iPhone in the way it responds to scrolling speed.

You should have bought a plasma instead of an imac if all you want to watch is movies. Then you could have had enough left over to buy a mini.

Question that maybe someone can help me with. I connected my PS3 to the iMac using a HDMI to DVI cable then a DVI to mini DVI adapter from Apple. How do I now get the picture to show up?

You can do it but you'll need to purchase this for $180 and a Belkin Mini DP to Mini DP cable for $30.

So it'll be an extra $210. At least you already have the HDMI to DVI cable :p

Frankly, the 16:9 doesn't look good at all next to the old 24" iMac. 16:10 looks far more usable. Guess I'm in the minority.

I agree that the 16:10 ratio is more usable, but I'd gladly trade the 16:10 ratio for 60% more pixels on the 27" iMac vs the 24". But yea 16:10 27" with the same pixel density would be awesome IMHO. I wish more macs had pixel density like the 17" MBP and 27" iMac, even though I realize there are a lot of older users with poor eyesight who wouldn't like this. Can't wait for resolution independence in (hopefully) 10.7.

Niceee i think samsung are the only ones who are doing a 16:10 in the UK which is easily available-SM2433BW. Im looking at getting it for my mac mini :)

That screen looks aaaamaazing!!

Actually the Atlona will NOT work properly with the 27". It does not have a scaler. They mention that their product would not be a good match without a scaler. They may be working on a new version in the future though.

yeah, on the product page it says "Supports High Resolutions up to 1920x1200"

not even close to the 27 incher's native rez
