Dear dtdrpepper,

The new version should be 6.0.13. Please refresh the download page and try to download the driver again.

Best regards,
Anatoly.

Thanks Anatoly, but I'm not able to get version 6.0.13.

So you're seeing what I am, your link takes me to the main download page. From there I select download and proceed to login to my account. Downloadable files only include this

ntfsmac609.jpg

which is 6.0.9

I've tried everything I could think of, several downloads, including direct download, download from email link, and redownloading from the initial download and license key link.

Everything is 6.0.9.

Has anyone else gotten 6.0.13?

Clear your browser cache and try downloading directly from the address Anatoly posted:

I hope this helps,

Thanks.

I looked at that, noticed it had a different name, and passed on it thinking that the update or current "full version" download should be the current updated or full version. I don't believe my thinking is off on that.

It's too bad that the website creates the unnecessary appearance that you have to take certain steps and that there is more than one file. Why should I ever have to sign on if the same file can be downloaded with a click? Why give files different names to give the appearance that there is a separate demo only version?

Spotlight problems

Hi...
I've tried the demo of your software that works flawlessly until I try to use spotlight...
The research finish but the mds process starts, eating CPU cycles and constantly reading from and writing to my HD...Using spotless to not indexing the NTFS partition doesn't help...and that partition can't added to the privacy panel in spotlight preference..
Uninstalling doesn't help 'cause the original driver doesn't work no more....

Thanks for your help

I'm guessing you're running Tiger? I had the same problem with Beta 2 or 3 and after removing the driver, the original driver didn't work anymore. I disabled Spotlight in order to get rid of the annoying indexing.

With Leopard (10.5) NTFS drives can finally be added to the privacy list of Spotlight, but I guess that's not an option for you.

Here's the link to spotless, which I used to disable Spotlight: http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/26842

Hope this helps a bit,
Sebastian

Yes I'm running under Tiger...
Spotless doesn't work...even if disabled spotlight perform a search on a NTFS formatted volume.....
I've written to Paragon and an e-mail informed me that the bug was managed to reproduced by developer team and a fix will arrive soon....
For now i've found a right solution....involving a little bit of terminal...;)

touch .metadata_never_index (make sure you're at the top-level of that volume)...

works like a charm...

Thanks for your help...:D

slow performance

I just installed paragon ntfs 6.0.13 on my mac running Leopard 10.5.1, and I started moving files around a windows ntfs external mounted via firewire.
I discovered that deleting a large number of files was painfully slow with paragon. For instance, I was deleting a photoshop install directory which had a few thousand files, and just preparing to delete those files took more than 5 minutes (it was incrementing about 20 files/sec). In addition, the whole system seemed to slow down as the files were being deleted.

I confirm that mds process becomes to be crazy after a spotlight search.
Moreover, it seems to cause some unstability on the system (relaunch of the Dock...).

touch .metadata_never_index works fine here. Nice solution until Paragon find a solution!

dangerous bug in NTFS

I think i discovered ( in the worse way ) a potentially dangerous bug related to NTFS for Mac OS X.

I bought the 5 pack version, downloaded from the site they emailed to me and installed it on my MBP.
It was version 6.0.9 and after two hours it crashed my windows partition, no way to recover it. The disk disappeared and mounting it after some voodoo rite didn't contain any file.
Using bootcamp i deleted the partition and when i asked to recreate a new windows partition it told me that it was impossible and my hard drive was needing repair.
Running diskutil i was getting the error "invalid sibling" and it was not possible to repair it.
I tried several time at finally it was impossible to boot also from my OS X partition.

People at paragon instruct me to download and install the version 6.0.13.
After recovering a backup copy and installing it, with a fresh windows XP installation with bootcamp i run again diskutil to check the drive and it was in perfect shape.
I installed at that point NTFS for OS X ( 6.0.13 ) , the installation was fine and, after rebooting, i didn't touch the windows partition ( that now is read/write ).
I checked my osx disk and now the verification fails again with the same "invalid sibling" error message.

I saved the osx partition on an image , reformatted the disk and restored the partition with NTFS on it.

I tried to copy a few files on the windows disk and it works. the disk util says the the disk is fine.

I did that just for the purpose to check the paragon NTFS and this shows that it seems to have serious problems during the installation.

I would like to know if some of you encountered the same problem, or may be you can check your osx disks ( just the verification is sufficient )

i will wait before installing it on the others macs until i ear some (good) news.

Big Issue about Media Files

Dear All,

I discovered another issue concerning media files, especially Movies.

I cannot copy any .avi files from an USB NTFS-Drive to any of my HFS+ Drives. In addition, when I try to play them with different app (VLC, Quicktime...), I ever get an error message.

Tried to read them under Windows thanks VMWare Fusion. No problem, files are not corrupted.

Seems that paragon kext does not read media files correctly (I mean, there are some issues with pictures too).

I was forced to uninstall 6.0.13. All is OK now with the native ntfs kext. Can play my movies again.

BTW, when uninstalling, clicking on the "Restart" button didn't do anything. I had to restart manually...

Hope these important issues will be corrected soon.

Regards,

papypaprika.

I tried copies with several movie files (avi, wmv and mov), to and from all combinations of HFS+ (Int Disk 1 and Disk 2), NTFS (USB External) and NTFS (Bootcamp Int Disk 3). I didn't have any problems with copying or playback under OSX or Windows. Specifically, copying avi files from Ext USB to HFS+ drives was fine.

Under 6.0.13, I have not seen any more file corruption. Trash emptying does seem to take an inordinately long amount of time, but I guess I'd need to do a more direct comparison with emptying a larger number of files from the trash on HFS+ formatted drives.

That's all !

Another issue: the uninstaller of version 1.0.16 restart the computer without warning. A bit annoying...

Issue Multimedia Files

Dear Anatoly, Dear All,

I finally understood the origin of the issue when playing, copying media files from a NTFS partition.

I had some folders and files (movies and pictures in this case) with the attribute "compressed" under windows. The Paragon's kext does not work properly with this kind of compressed files. It can see the files, but cannot read them, nor copy/move them.

Hope this problem is planned to be fixed.

Cheers,

Papypaprika.

I have installed the latest trial version on Leopard, and it only allowed me to see 1 of the 3 partitions on my external USB HDD. The native mac driver showed all 3. When I uninstalled Paragon NTFS for Mac, I couldn't see any of the partitions/volumes.

This isn't helpful at all. This is supposed to be final release software...

Please, can we have a 'proper uninstall, that gets us back to where we were before?

I fixed this by installing the Mac FUSE and latest NTFS-3G drivers instead, and this arrangement works flawlessly for me (so far) and is free.

Based on my experience, don't install the Paragon drivers unless the above combo doesn't work for you for any reason, or of course if you want a particular feature offered by the Paragon driver.
