I went to the Parallels website, downloaded version 16 and installed over the one I had (which was the latest then). Not sure if this step is needed or an uninstall would do.

Then I downloaded the latest version from the Parallels website and installed it over version 16. Problem fixed.
Yeah I downloaded and installed V16, I installed the Windows 10 version 21354. But still it doesn't work. Drives me crazy. I know it worked before at some version haha.

You still run MT4? Can it be my MacOS? Running on Monterey 12.0.1

Which broker you use? Maybe it is cause of the installation file. But already tried different ones.

Thanks for your help.

Kind regards

I had issues too. After successfully installing Win 10 ARM64 I switched as soon as Win 11 came out and stopped working. A Parallels website note referenced version 22000 of Win 11 ARM64 and even provided a link. Worked, was able to update and still works.

Tom
You had issues with MT4? or with Windows in general. The Windows issue I had also, couldn't open any settings and indeed it is solved with installing 22000. But in this version I stil can't get MT4 running. Not in parallels 16 and also not in 17.

Sorry; my issues were with Windows just not working at all and not a program specific issue(MT4), which I’ve never used.

I doubt it's due to your broker, since you already tried different MT4 installation files.

Have you tried uninstalling Parallels first, then install the latest version?

Maybe even try setting up a new VM after that.

Get in touch with Parallels. They'd want some kind of log files after MT4 fails to run.

Hello

I've read this thread and it sounds like windows 10 for ARM is no longer available outside of buying a supported windows ARM hardware device, is that correct?

Thanks

I believe this is correct. Unless you’re buying an ARM device with Windows 10 on it, I’m pretty sure Microsoft only provides Insider Preview builds on Windows 11 now.

I’d love it if Microsoft still had a Windows 10 on ARM download page, but all I can find is Win11.

I still have the Windows 10 ARM download from when I originally downloaded it and have a VM backup from prior to the upgrade to Windows 11, but my understanding is that Insider Preview builds expire after a year.

I found the windows 10 file online, if I build a VM with it is it possible to convert it to a normal Win10 install? I read the thread history but it wasn't entirely clear, seemed to be some disagreement.

That’s my understanding as well. There have been a few updates for Windows 10 since Windows 11 was released, too. I’ve got a backup of my VM, and just tried running Windows Updates, and I’m offered Windows 11 only…

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Hmm. I predict a lot of unhappy customers for Parallels on the horizon.
I’m sure any current version of Parallels will point folks to a current version of Windows, which would be Win11. And although the Insider Preview builds expire, the Win11 builds won’t for a long while.

Where are you going to get an ARM version of Windows that is not an insider preview?

Not sure if you mean 10 or 11 but many of us have got Windows 11 Release installed in Parallels, and getting all the regular Windows 11 ARM updates. Not Insider, no expiry, activated with Windows license on MS account. I got mine from uupdump.net as detailed here: How to install Windows 11 (retail version)

Whatever the current Insider Preview version is at the time. Microsoft isn’t stopping their beta program.

::EDIT::
I just followed the instructions in the Parallels Forum link @Mike Boreham posted that point to uupdump.net, and I was able to get an ARM64 Build of the latest version of Windows 10. Thanks!

The directions in your link are really good instructions. I'm going to ask you or somebody else to go a little further.
The only windows machine I have access to is a Windows 10 OS installed on a Parallels VM. To keep the VM small, I've restricted it largely to programs, with the data stored on the Mac side, which in my case is designated y://. I think, but am not sure, that that is causing me problems when I try to follow the instructions for a windows machine.
When I run the command file, I get error messages: "CMD does not support UNC paths as current directories. We couldn't find files\aria2c.exe in current directory." Then the command window says it needs to shut down.
I thought maybe the command was looking for aria in the current directory, kind of like with ytdl, so I put it there. That didn't help.
I have also considered whether PowerShell might be able to solve the problem, but I can't figure out how to navigate to the shared directory or drag the command file into PowerShell
Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

I suggest you ask on the Parallels forum. I did it before those instructions were posted and made several wrong turns and had to start over. It was all completely new to me.

Parallels 17.1.1 has been released today Headline feature is easier to install release Windows 11. Can now get Windows 11 Release ISO from Microsoft. Supersedes uupdumpnet etc see here:

It took a dog’s age (in this Mac - Windows - Mac - and so on cycle) I’ve finally got all my Macs set up to run Windows through Parallels and have everything backed up via Carbon Copy Cloner. Running Windows primarily b/c of PC games that won’t run from Crossover.

most, but not all PC games (John Tiller Napoleonics, ACW and Panzer Battles) run spiffy in Crossover. Fallout 3, New Vegas and Field of Glory won’t run (or very well) w/o Windows.

Windows itself runs quickly enough, faster than an i7 multi core Dell I still have. Only game that hasn’t yet worked under Windows/Parallels is Doom BFG(?).

Just this morning I installed a Windows 11 VM from the Parallels Installation Assistant, and was able to Activate it by signing in with my Microsoft Account. It's the regular retail version of Windows 11, too, not the Insider Preview version.

I doubt it's due to your broker, since you already tried different MT4 installation files.

I still run MT4. I'm running on Monterey 12.0.1 now.

Maybe even try setting up a new VM after that.

Lol I missed your reaction. Gonna try now again.

I removed parallels completely, so I start with V16.

Create a new VM for Windows 10. Try MT4.

If this does not work I go crazy. I have a tool for MT4 what only works on the Windows version, very annoying.

I have MT4 running in MacOS directly, but I need that kind of indicator work as well.

When I can't get it running, is it possible you share your VM with me? Do you have a Clean one without your data?

I can give you a link to upload it to my NAS.

Thanks for your help.

No nothing helps.

I tried everything

- Parallels v16 + Windows 10 21390
- Parallels v16 + Windows 10 21354
- Parallels v16 + Windows 11 22000

- Parallels v17 + Windows 10 21390
- Parallels v17 + Windows 10 21354
- Parallels v17 + Windows 11 22000

- Disable / Enable TPM chip
- Isolate windows from Mac (setting in the VM)
- Reinstall parallel tools
- Compatibility solutions in Windows

No succes.

I click MT4 and nothing happen. Tried IC-Markets, Eightcap, Forex.com.

No ideas left. Please help me @hunkster :p

Just install a new windows 11 vm and activate it with a windows 11 pro key from here:

https://www.cjs-cdkeys.com/products/Windows-11-Professional-CD-Key-(Digital-Download).html

worked 100% for me

I've seen cheap Windows licenses online before, but >$16?!? Seems too good to be true. Looking up this website, I'm finding a lot of other folks also complaining. I'm still tempted to buy a license, though.

It’s a legit site, if you are that worried buy on a cc and do a chargeback if you are not satisfied
I bought a license using my PayPal account. Heck, it's only $16US, why not. It first says it's "generating" a key and then gives you what looks to be an OEM license, and then when selecting their link to download media, it directs you to Microsoft's site to download Windows 11. I'm going to activate mine right away in case it's just pulling from an unactivated list somehow.
