Spooky timing, this email from Microsoft has just landed...

Hi Windows Insider,
Some PCs in the Dev Channel do not have an option to switch channels as they were given an exception to install Windows 11 preview builds as outlined in our blog post here on June 24th (the red column in the chart). These PCs do not meet the minimum hardware requirements for previewing Windows 11 builds and will not receive new Windows 11 Insider Preview builds from the Dev Channel going forward.
Based on our data, you have a PC that was given that exception. This PC must clean install back to Windows 10 with the media (ISOs) that we provide and can then join the Release Preview Channel to preview Windows 10 updates.
Please review the message in your Windows Update Settings to learn more.

I have TPM enabled. It also gave me a warning. But an update is downloading. Will play it by ear.
I preserved an older VM preview with Windows 10, but it does not have my latest configs for dev and games.

this has been in the media for a couple of days already... not worth messing with Windows 11 on M1 IMO... Windows 10 or Arm should be good for the next couple of years
Any idea how I can redownload the Windows 10 ARM to install on Parallels?

Mac crashed, Windows 11 (auto updated from Windows 10) on Parallels got corrupted.

Upon creating a new VM with a fresh Windows 11 download, I found my favorite 32-bit app (MetaTrade 4) does not open anymore. It installs, but nothing happens at all (no error either) when I try to open it. Used to work before Windows 11 got corrupted.

I'm guessing some compatibility stuff must have been changed or removed from this latest Windows 11, so hopefully I can redownload Windows 10 and try again.

I couldn’t get space back from removing it, I did factory reset and disk utility reformat and was missing 200gb

apple store has specialty programs. Successfully reclaimed all space

taking MacBook tomorrow because it has 85gb that after resetting won’t reclaim from parallels

I got the link to the Windows 10 ISO from Parallels themselves (maybe check the emails when you got it)

Thanks, but I checked my email and didn't find any link from Parallels.

In any case, if you can find the link, try it and see if you can get a Windows 10 ARM build, or is it the latest Windows Insider Preview, which is Windows 11?
Downloaded it and installed as a fresh VM. It's Windows 11 and while it runs MetaTrader 5 (64-bit), it doesn't open the older MetaTrader 4 (32-bit).

I'm wondering if I need to download some .net or C++ runtime?

I checked and you have the choice, there is a dropdown menu (select edition) and you can choose Windows 11 or 10. Currently I see 6 builds of Win11 (3 dev channels and 3 beta channels) and 3 of Win10 (China, Enterprise and the normal Release Preview)

I just used that link to install Windows 10 yesterday.

I tried choosing Windows 11 as well as Windows 10, and it kept showing me 32 and 64 bit downloads, which Parallels say cannot be used. Hmmmm.

Odd. There's only one download link there for me now, screenshow below.

It gives me a file called "Windows11_InsiderPreview_Client_x64_en-us_22000.iso"

OK I think I may have got it.

I changed my Insider Preview channel, visited the link again and now I'm downloading a Windows 10 preview.

Problem was that on the Windows 11 that I downloaded and installed, going inside Settings -> Windows Update -> Windows Insider Program showed only an error about how my hardware isn't supported. There's no way to toggle a change in channel.

Went to this link to learn how to switch channels since I couldn't do it within the VM.

-------

EDIT:
Installing the Windows 10 .vhdx gives me... Windows 11 Pro. Installed twice.

Here's a screenshot of the fresh install along with a Finder window showing the .vhdx file I downloaded and used.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I’m honestly not sure why that’d be happening unless Microsoft removed the Win10 download link and I got it just before they did..

Does anyone have the Windows 10 on ARM64 VHDX file to share. Microsoft is only pushing Windows 11 now.

the windows 10 insider build you are looking will likely expire soonish, all insiders build have a kernel "timebomb". For some reason the stable release builds of Windows 10 give BSOD when installing.

RANT:

Parallels 17 caused an issue with a 32-bit x86 app (MetaTrader 4) I was using.

Installed the app fine, but can't launch it. Nothing happens. Event Viewer shows some kind of Fault.

Logged a ticket with Parallels. They waited days to reply me with a generic support help page link that doesn't address my issues, and closed my ticket.

So unimpressed.

Reverting back to Parallels 16 using the same VM, the app launches fine. But unsure how this will work in the long run, with Windows 11 becoming the main preview OS version and Monterey coming in.

Yeah since the M1 I have given up on using paralells anyway and no more windows for me unless MS and Apple agree and bring back bootcamp or so.
