You need to use the ARM64 preview version from the Insider Preview program. You get a VHDX, which is a preinstalled disk image. Parallels imports it into their disk format, which you can then resize.
You log into the Insider Program and switch to the Developer Preview. The system will update to the latest after that with full x86 and 64 support.
Disable Time Sync or Guests with negative time zone offsets stall.
Sorry mate was talking about Linux. Got it to install in the end and anyway I live in a +6.5 time zone so no issue with time sync

I have managed to install the latest Parallels tech preview on my MacBook Pro M1 16/512. Installed the Windows 10 Arm Insider Preview. But the file that is available for download is build 20231. When trying to update to 21277 it fails on every restart after the initial update. Tried several times but it just aborts when finishing up the update. Anyone other having such a problem ?

did anyone managed to get windows 10 arm iso to install? It will not install for me. I tried doing the Windows 10, version 20H2 from uupdump, but always end up with a bluescreen on install.

EDIT: creating a iso from windows dev channel build installs fine using iso.

Soldered-on SSDs have only started on Mac since about 4 years ago. All of the previous models could have their SSDs replaced.

Plus running VMs that occupy a large portion of your memory all the time is not the same as having a few swap operations happen because Photoshop is asking for a bit more. I'd argue that this is not a major problem for most people precisely because not too many people run VMs 24/7 like we do. So that's why there aren't "thousands" of reports.

But it is still a legitimate concern. You can either count on SSD manufacturers doing their jobs well, or you can just spend $200 now and not have to worry about it in the future. It's still up to you.
I got attacked ferociously in another discussion for saying this, and accused of pushing people to spend unnecessary money. But I agree!

You need to make sure to enable the Dev Channel. Search for “Insider” in the Windows Search field and you can enable it there. It’ll pull down the most recent build.

so new update for the Tech preview today ... win10 Arm gets new tools, no new tools for Linux ... still arm64 not supported, BUT much faster better support for closing VM... now actually asked what to do with VM ... still only shutdown supported but still better ... seems snapper than the last preview (Win 10 app performance ... real world not benchmarks)... really shopping up to be a solid product ...

Tried to see if I should upgrade again to 16GB ... no need launched 2 x windows 4GB VM + 2 GB Ubuntu desktop ... yes ift was swapping ... but no real slow down either in one of the VMs our outside using MacOS ... was not able to do this before in any of the parallels for intel on in Fusion ... 1 VM bogged the system down ... here what ever BigSur is doing with the Memory management and the Super fast SSD and the new architecture ... it just keeps on going , yes swap was 6GB but fully transparent ... YMMV
Which version is that then? I am still on Parallels 16.3.1 and cant see any updates.

16.3.1 (50393) is what it updated to on

most cloud infrastructure has transitioned to all flash. Aka SSD. Trillions of operations globally .. thousands and thousands of on demand VMs being recovered from SSD and better relatability than spinning. Sometimes you got to look at the big picture and the manufactures have done the right stuff ..and I don’t mean Samsung. And all this experience flows down hill to consumer land. If it was such a Hugh problem, it would be all over the web. It is however not. So relax, and don’t listen to fake news.

This video got me up and running on an M1 Pro.

x64 apps up and running (Chrome, Zoom), along with Firefox ARM and 32-bit Office 2019 (64-bit wouldn't install correctly). Runs like a charm!

CPU temp ranged from 45-80*C during my light usage, with the high end being during app installs. 4 CPU cores assigned, 8GB RAM. Fan kicked on very, very lightly. An Air probably would've handled it like a champ as well.

Windows ARM Geekbench scores attached.

Does WoA emulate AVX? I tried to install an app and it popped an error "your CPU doesn't support AVX". For those that's curious its the Xbox 360 xenia emulator.

With the latest update I was about to get Ubuntu to work. Still no luck with Centos. I get the boot prompt now, but won't go any further. I have no need or interest in Windows.

That temperature sounds really high. I’ve tried to kill the pro and the highest I could get was about 65. That’s with serious overbooking of memory with 3 4gb VMs. + Teams + safari playing 2 videos.

If you see slow internet, try disabling the IPv6 in your network settings within Windows. It fixed the issue for me. I then disabled the IPv6 completely for the shared network switch and it seems to be fine. I reported it to Parallels.

I hope parallels adds DirectX 12 since were stuck with DirectX 11 currently.
I hope they fix the suspend and restart of VMs long before this ... not pointing in any way at you ... just hoping that the para team monitors this thread ... and sets the suspend/restart higher on the priority

Those were definitely peak temps and not sustained – I also forgot to mention that it was sitting on top of a comforter as a stress test ?

Despite casting doubts on windows for arm I installed windpws for arm with x64 emulation under parallel desktop. I then tested blender 2,91 but it won’t run due to it asking for OpenGL 3.3 or higher graphics driver. tested it on Mac m1 MacBook Air 8 gb ram / 256 ssd

I fired up Parallels and Windows earlier and it said some kind of catastrophic error had occurred and it insisted I report it to Parallels.
So I did :)
The VM ran fine once loaded though.
It's a mystery :)

I managed to get blendet 2.79c to work instead. Not sure If it’s 32 or 64 bit

That is absolutely insane! That is better performance than many native Windows laptops. Heck, my 16-inch MacBook Pro with a 2.3 GHz i9, 32 GB of RAM, and a 5600M GPU will only score about 1,050/4,440 in a Win 10 20H2 benchmark when it is being allocated 6 'cores', 14 GB of RAM, and hardware acceleration with the 5600M GPU with Fusion 12 Pro (and it is a good bit slower without the GPU being active). My mind is absolutely blown by this. I cannot believe how rapidly this is progressing.

It's blowing my mind too. I feel like I keep waiting for the other shoe to drop, but... these things just really are this amazing lol.
