Do you receive inivitations to Parallels tech preview by e-mail if signed up?
Yeah I got an invite via email a short while ago
We're patient....... Honest ;)

I'm especially *ahem* patient *ahem* as I have to enjoy these things vicariously because I'm not allowed my M1 until bloody Christmas Day
that's just cruel!

I was hoping for a kind of emulation... :(
With the M1's extra speed I was hoping that it would be fine...

It may well come, as the post said on Parallels, this is their first release, it's early, it's buggy and it's anything but feature complete. I'm paraphrasing of course, because I can't be bothered copy & pasting :D

That you do, I signed up on the day they opened them and got my email earlier, I don't have my M1 yet so it's about as much use as sun cream is to me. But it'll be waiting come chrimbo :)

You're telling me, it's torture. not that I'm helping matters, I should be avoiding anything to do with them. instead, I've been reading hundreds of articles and watching more YouTube videos than I have in the past 15 years combined :D

Downloaded, seems to accept the image. Creating virtual hard disk now

Excitement building..... preparing to be diossapointed...hankies on-hand :D

*Edit, I barely even use Windows, but still, I'm curious to see what the team at Parallels can pull off in the end.

do you think parallels will have more competition with the virtualization framework? With virtualbox gone there is not really no well know open source Virtualization for m1 now. I wonder if something will take virtualbox place for m1.

Steps I took were pretty simple, instead of doing any kind of set up in Parallels app, I just opened the VHDX file and it started the setup assistant in parallels, worked seamlessly!

Yes that is what I did, in fact there isn't an app in the traditional sense in my Applications folder. It's strange. Anyway I get blue screen when booting it on MBA 16GB/512GB

Only other thing I can suggest is I am running it from an external SSD - can't see how that would make a difference, but there we go

For Windows I used an Insider preview VHDX. Worked until I installed the Guest Tools. Downloading a fresh copy, this one was previously configured and run under QEMU.
Installed Ubuntu server followed by adding Ubuntu Desktop. All comes up, but no ARM64 Guest Tools? I only see prl-tools-lin.iso, no prl-tools-lin-arm.iso as the prl-tools-win-arm.iso in the Bundle.
