Damn, was hoping to hear some news on iPad Pro 2 12.9 or 10.5...Now I don't know what todo. Keep waiting or just get 12.9 pro V1

I'm done waiting. Picked up a 12.9 for $100 off and it will ably handle anything that I need to do in iOS for a few years. I've got 30 days or so to return it if there is an unexpected change. I hate buying 16 mo. old tech, but in this case, for my needs, I don't see the benefit of waiting any further.

Everyone's needs and patience differ, so I don't think there is right or wrong answer here.

I caved and picked up a refurb 9.7 plus a Pencil with Amazon credit I'd saved up. I'm just going to enjoy drawing on my new Pro and maybe flip it down the line when Pro 2 refurbs and sales start popping up.

Godspeed to those continuing to wait. I hope Apple comes through for you guys sooner rather than later.

Let's be real. 12.9 is still good regardless how long you waited.

Now I'm considering to reluctantly buy the aging 12.9 pro. I've needed a new iPad for months but Apple just sucked the life right out of me.
The "aging" 12.9 Pro.

The 12.9 Pro was released only about 15 months ago and is every bit as much of a beastly tablet now as it was when it was first released. The Air 2 was released nearly 2.5 years ago and is still an excellent tablet.

I think now the life of Apple products is extending. Check, for instance, the iPad 3 and 4: I don't think the iPad 3 was too good on iOS 8, and the 4 was decreasing on performance since iOS 7. The Air 2, per Macrumors users's opinion, works great on iOS 10.

Even though I sold my 12.9 back about 3 months ago. I sorely missed it and was going to upgrade. After the announcement, or lack of one, I decided to get a refurbished LTE 256 GB iPad Pro with pencil, apple care and case for $975; which was what I sold my 128gb, Apple Pencil and case for back in the shortage.

So, its kind of an upgrade any way. I'll just flip it if the new one is worth the bump up.

By iPad standards, that is old tech. I'm not saying that they are worthless but it is aging. The iPhone 5s is still a capable phone but would you pay iPhone 7 prices for one?

Nope, not even by "iPad standards" (whatever THAT is) is the 12.9 Pro "aging". There is only 1 newer iPad model (the 9.7 Pro) and even THAT is a mixed bag of some things worse than the 12.9 and other things better.

Comparing the 5S to the 7 is not an appropriate comparison. But hey, if it helps you to think of the 12.9 Pro on the boundary of being vintage, go for it. ;)

Did you guys check on kijiji?
Here in Canada I can buy a brand new sealed ipad pro 9.7 32 GB for $640 canadian from a cell shop.
I have no idea how they get them , but they are legit and come with standard Apple warranty.

I used the iPad Pro 12.9" today for what I consider to be its best use case - typing up note in a meeting on Word while using split screen to check e-mail, news, etc. Also iMessaging. iPad worked as well as it did the first day I bought it and will probably last another 3-4 years for those tasks.

just because the iPad 12.9 is Apples latest version does not mean it's not aging. By your logic the Mac Mini must be cutting edge. Good luck with that. ;)

I ended up going with a 9.7 cellular pro model from Apple today. I also ordered a pencil. The ability to take notes, draw, and insert photos/diagrams was a big plus for me. I'm not saying that the pro models are not good, I'm just sick of Apple charging new prices on stuff that would've normally been updated by them by now.

That is my dilemma (iPad 3 owner). I'm still going to wait and see what eventuates in the, hopefully, near future.
Yah I'd wait I'm doing the same with my Air 2 and heck I might end up not upgrading at all, but in your case if you can wait it out your patience is going to be hugely rewarded in both performance and design of the device itself. Honestly I'd expect the new Pro sooner even before WWDC simply because I don't see them skipping the iPads for A10X chip. That would be odd if they held off till fall then really it would be holiday with A11X, unless the A11X is supposed to be crazy more powerful I don't see Apple waiting that long to refresh the iPads it doesn't make much since buisness wise to delay the Pro lineup of course what do I know they did exactly that with the Mac Pro desktop but that is way more niche than iPads are so again I don't think they can do that.

Yes, that's my thinking too. Surely they wouldn't wait another six months before they updated the iPad line. I hoping not anyway.o_O

I'm in a similar dilemma, contemplating whether to buy the iPad Pro 12.9 now or wait for a new model (which might be days, weeks or months away).

5 years ago I would have had no hesitation in choosing to wait - iDevice v2 was always better than iDevice v1. Now, Apple is a different company, and it's not so certain. There's about a 50% chance it will be better and/or cheaper vs a 50% chance it will be worse and/or more expensive.

I'm starting to sway more towards buying the current model. Possibly. Maybe. Or perhaps I'll wait until tomorrow...or next week.... or perhaps I'll just spend the money somewhere else.... o_O

Sounds like you don't really need it based on your statement. If you do need it, you wouldn't hesitate.

Yes, I don't need it right now. I don't have a working iPad currently, and will need a new one (or a similar alternative device) by the end of April.

Oh okay. Would budget type be okay with you?
I need the larger screen and a keyboard (possibly the Smart Keyboard), and would like to give the Apple Pen a try (although that's not an absolute must-have). I'll probably end up waiting for 2-3 weeks to see if there are any more definite signs of a new model, and make a decision from there.

After the news today, I'm glad I just got the refurb 12.9. It's a great machine. Can't imagine that it won't last me 3-4 years.

I have both Pros but could be tempted to ditch both for a 10.5" model provided it has the same resolution as the 12.9". I do love the screen size of the 12.9 though but the portability of the 9.7 means I use both.
Having said that, I could be tempted by a new 12.9 with some good upgrades such as improved camera, 3D touch, True Tone and a lighter weight.
