This is after offloading a bunch of stuff to stay under 256.

Pretty much full.
Had to delete about 30gb last week
I had the 256gb 8 Plus, figured i would never need that much.
Opened up the general tab last night... 35 gb free.
Went back and forth on the 256 or 512 gb Max. Ended up getting the 512.

Apps are not getting smaller, i'm taking more photos and video.. and I can just say screw it, sync every song I have on the iPhone. And load movies/TV as well. (I *do* spend a lot of time in areas of complete lack of cell/wifi access)
I listen to a lot of audiobooks, now they are 300-500mb each and when done i generally delete from the iPhone. (can re download anytime anyway) now I don't need to manage them at all.

My mom had a 64gb 7 Plus, and was constantly backing up and removing her photos and videos. She had to take 30-50 pics/vids a day for her business. She upgraded to the 8 Plus 2 months ago and went 256gb.

I'll say it this time... i won't need more than 512gb. Ever. ;)

I am getting the 512. I currently have the 256 X and I have about 23 left on it. I travel, blog, attend concerts and events, etc., so I need a lot of space for my phone when I am doing things on the fly. You won't believe how much stuff I can amass over a weekend or a week of travel. Not always in the best areas of coverage to pull things down from the cloud so having something available at a seconds notice is crucial for me. I will back a lot of things up to the cloud later, but like I said I can jam up the storage in my phone rather quickly.

If they offered a TB, I would get it without hesitation.

For only $200 you get another 256GB extra internal fast storage (to max out at 512GB). That's not expensive. With that amount of storage you can shoot lots of long 60FPS video, 4K video, store your whole iTunes video library on the device for travel, store all your music uncompressed, store endless photos.

Those who live in a wifi is everywhere world may not need 512GB of storage, but there's lots of places when traveling where WIfI isn't available anywhere-,nor cellular service. The 512GB version is a blessing for travelers.

Hey all,

I know a lot of you have decided to preorder a new iPhone in the 512GB configuration. I am curious why you decided to choose that storage level.

For me personally the 128GB model is more than enough. I use Spotify for all of my music, download a generous amount of apps and games, and take thousands of pictures. Even with this I won't even come close to approaching the 128GB storage limit.

I'm just genuinely curious why in the world you would need so much space? It seems like an absurd amount of memory unless you plan on taking tons of 4K videos.

Thanks!

BECAUSE I WANTED TO AND BECAUSE I CAN

the cellular where i work is absolute, total CRAP so anything i want decently is on my phone. plus i want all my pictures and videos on my phone so if i want one i have access to it.....
but why do i have to explain that to you.

Because I currently have 18GB of 256GB available on the iPhone X.

I have around 10,000 photos, 1,000 videos.

I don't particularly care to "optimize photos" on the phone. I have the space to store the photos at the moment so I use it.
Also I work with 42 Megapixel uncompressed RAW photos as well and those are typically 85MB each.

And then there is traveling to either other countries or just in places where you are not guaranteed superb wifi or cell service and my wife is high maintenance af and likes to have lots of movies and TV shows to bring along.

So for now I am fortunate enough to be able to get it and utilize it so I am thankful that it is an option.

I get the top model in vain/vanity... I want the best. Lol. And we can afford it.
No one but you will know you have 512gb. How can you possibly show off if no one knows you spent $1500?

What’s with the attitude? Don’t even reply to this post if it has you so butt hurt. No one cares what you do, trust me on that. You’re not special, and the OP has every right to make this topic. The fact you even replied speaks volumes.

hahahahaha i'm not butthurt... but it's "funny" how just because someone only uses a couple GB on their phone they can't possibly understand why someone would want or need 512. Newsflash... apple wouldn't make it if they didn't think people wanted or needed it!

Are you responding to your self?

My phone is my portable photo album. On my Mac, I organize my photos into folders that are named strategically and synced back onto my phone where they become albums (not like Apple’s poor attempt where everything has to remain in your camera roll to be in albums. My camera roll never exceeds 300 files). For example, I have an album for every age my daughter has been (she’ll be 11). I have 88 albums and I pretty much can find any of my 16,000+ pics and 1,000+ videos in seconds.

Why? Because it’s what I like. I like having them with me. I prefer not to have my access limited to the cellular connection I have at that moment (I loathe cloud services for that reason). My photos app takes up 189gb and now, I can switch over completely to 4K video if I please. So yeah, I benefit from 512gb. It’s what I like. It’s preference. I think sometimes, some members in here forget that not all people use their phone in the same manner. Cloud supporters likely shake their head at people like me. And that’s ok.

You are the perfect 512 user. I see a lot of people buying it simply cause it's the biggest and most expensive model. My sil had a 256 x that she filled with 40gb. She pre ordered the 512 JUST because it was the most expensive.

I wish apple had rewarded 512 adoptors with extra ram like samsung did for the note 9.

You think Samsung rewarded you for getting a 512gb model.

Thats just peculiar
