Arrived May 10th. Ironic that first photo taken was of a butterfly which fit with the theme/series of this thread. Next day took it to wetland, posting a few here, but series interrupted by other photo events since then (Kennedy Space Center, pulled out for hawks watching me mow the yard, and kicking myself at local garden when person advised me of an owl just up the trail. Debated about going out to the car and getting the lens, andticipating the own way up in the trees. I am looking way up, then I see him, literally along the edge of the trail about 10' up. My 95mm was almost too long!)

Did about 3 miles on the Wetlands hike with my typical set-up, monopod and always a shoulder strap. Got a little heavy as changed carrying positions frequently. Thought about waist carry separate from monopod that would clip onto belt, so available as an option, otherwise hand holding. Bought a Peak Design Capture, and while saw the advantage of shifting weight to belt, really did not like the PD Capture and returned it today. Will probably get a replacement foot with built in Arca Swiss mount vs Sony's standard that had to mount a plate to. Sliding the foot into the belt was similar to the PD Capture and much easier. Obviously with both have additionally secured using the sling strap.

I have been very pleased with the Wimberley replacement Arca-Swiss foot on my 200-600mm; just feels more secure that the original Sony factory one. Easy to slip right into my Wimberley gimbal which also has the Arca-Swiss mount. Although I can briefly hand-hold my 200-600mm, I realized fairly early-on that this was not going to be a lens with which I'd casually go walking around the lake or a botanical garden or anywhere else. Much better and safer to use on the tripod!

Glad that you're enjoying your new lens -- it's a real bargain, really, and the image quality is quite good. I had a filter on mine for a short time and then after noticing that I wasn't getting as good results as I would have expected, I did a bit of research and noticed that others were reporting that their results were better without the filter, so I removed mine, and yes, it did make a difference. That wasn't a cheap filter, either -- ouch!
