All taken in the city of Amsterdam by my Canon Ixus 70. Amazing place if you ever get out there, which I recommend.....I plan on getting my SLR camera, but I am not too sure which one right now. SO I will take a look around these forums to get a good idea.

More tonemapping experimenting...

Still playing around with Photomatix to see what it does... and I have no idea how I got rid of the watermarks... hmmm... three RAWs, converted to HDR 32 bit, then tonemapped to compress for computer display.

Whacky weather

We have been having alternating days of unseasonably warm days (28 C) followed by a few days of cold, rainy weather (near 0 C). The heating up and cooling down has made for some extremely high winds. This reinforced cement power pole was part of a domino effect where a tree was uprooted, falling across the power lines, knocking the pole down and a string of adjacent light standards. A rather mundane photo, otherwise.

You could try to get a little more out of what you are using now. One thing that even a consumer level camera should be able to do is adjust white balance for shooting outside. It looks as though it is currently set for incandescent bulb (indoor lighting) which will give a blue cast to the image when you are outside.

I presume the car is an apple red sports car. I'd want to make that pop little. Side by side of the original with a recrop and color adjusted version. Visually, the concrete pole is a problem for me. It tends to grab viewer attention even with the more saturated red.

Living proof that HDR doesn't always have to look tacky and cartoonish. Great grasp of the technique there.

Kayes & mcavjame - thanks, I appreciate that!

This one really stood out to me. It doesn't have the muted feeling a lot of photographs do, I feel like I'm really there.

Btw, how do you make the picture small when you quote it?

Anyways, taking a break from the butterflies for a bit. When I left the butterfly house there were some guys playing music. Took a couple quick shots before I put my gear away.
