Wherever I hang my hat...
My have to check if I am able to get on the insurance for a reasonable price and take it for a whirl! Are you going campsite to campsite? I know the local authorities can get a bit annoyed at just stopping at beauty spots.

When I started my perambulations, I was concerned about where to park up for the night. After a couple of weeks, I realised that nobody cares!

I use a campsite maybe once a month (a hook-up helps to keep the two 'leisure' batteries in good condition). Apart from that, it's wild camping for me. I'm discreet: I don't park on anyone's lawn! There are plenty of signs about no camping or overnight stops, but, frankly, there's no-one around to take me to task.

Last night I was at the Tan Hill Inn - the highest, most isolated pub in England - and woke this morning to find snow. Winter's back, with a vengeance...

Another shot of flowers. Hope you like it.

I do. Is that the Summicron?

My Nokton turned up today. Haven't had a chance to give it a good workout yet so here is a quick and dirty shot in the garden. I literally walked about five feet until I came across something remotely photogenic and that's as far as I've gone with it ;)

Fuji XE1 with Voigtlander Nokton 50mm 1.5 @ F2(ish), 1/4000sec, ISO 200, -0.67EV

Initial impressions are that it's a little belter of a lens. Built like a tank too.

" Cliffhanger Point "
Decided to go for a walk and see if I could find this place ....

Before Hollywood , movie production was centered around the NYC area . There were a number of big studios in Fort Lee ; it was pretty rural , but close to Manhattan , and had plenty of places to film .

Note carefully the rope around the camera , but not the cameraman .

OMG! That is a indeed a belter of a lens. No need to go any further armed with that. I absolutely love that picture. The colours, the purple is so rich! WOW! more more! Are you seeing yet that je ne sais quoi ? if you nail it, then it is magical and if you don't, it falls back to just being awesome... :)

Yes, mine was taken with the Summilux 50 asph. Tried the 35 but liked the 50s separation a bit better... I then mangled the colours in LR... :-(

Strangely, that just makes me want to do that even more! and the walk home from the pub was short too!

Super, Ken :)

Thanks Ken. I'll try and get some more shots in tomorrow if time allows. I've got a few snaps of the long suffering Bob dog with it and it seems to render really nicely. Very similar to my Heliar 15mm, so I'm pretty pleased with that. It definitely has the look I was after and I'm hoping for some good things from it.

I think your blossom shot might benefit from a bit of contrast and saturation maybe. Perhaps cool it down a tad too. Otherwise, I like it. That Summacron is damn sharp.

Beautiful backlit flowers. Sadly if I walk 5 feet, I just get weeds!

Me too :) Those flowers are the only area of beauty in my entire garden. If I had taken a step to the right and rotated 90 degrees you would have had a delightful view of my dilapidated shed with various bits falling off of it. A project for next weekend.....unfortunately. I like to think of my garden as an area of outstanding natural.....curiosity.

I'd love to have a nice garden but I don't have the skill/motivation/money (spent it all on camera gear).

Remember it? I have to fight it off on a daily basis! I suffer terribly from it.

I went for an eye test today (no my eyes are ok so must be another reason for rubbish photos). I was bored afterwards delaying going back to work and I actually considered going to buy a telescope because we have had clear skies for a few nights! Thankfully I got a grip of myself in time. Actually I knew my wife would kill me so didnt.

*-note how it was the threat of actual bodily harm from the boss that put me off, not my own "don't be bloody stupid" filter! I am so ashamed of myself sometimes :-(

GAS is over for me for a while now. I've had two expensive watch purchases and a lens in the last couple of months. I need to stick my bank card in a bucket of cold water and let it cool off for a while.

+2 add house move to AFB and MacRys list

I'm just considering a can of petrol and a box of matches at the minute ;)

You're making me more and more tempted! I can't just pack up and go right at this moment though!

That pub looks incredible! How do they stay open and maintain a business! I can imagine the delivery driver gets pretty annoyed with it!

Ha you don't know how much I wish I had that! 6th floor in a flat block with perfectly tended to communal gardens means it's very hard to find any food for my little tortoise! I need weeds and lots of them! I think I'm going to buy a bag of compost and some wild seed and grow some on the balcony.

I'm awful with that. I'm very different from my friends who spend small amounts of money all the time and end up having nothing to show for it. I'm all about the big purchases that actually make a noticeable difference!

Don't worry, us low paid civil servants can have GAS as well, just on a lower level.

Last week I bought an old Fuji S3 Pro just to see what all the fuss was about the colour rendition all those years ago.
I felt I had to buy a 50mm Nikon 1.8 AF to go with it, then a Pronea 24-70 (dirt cheap because nobody wants them) which I have adapted to F mount.
Finally I scored a broken Pronea camera for a tenner, but it has the 60-180 lens on which I will also adapt.
If I decide to keep the camera it will probably 'need' some primes.

Cheers :)

Thats sounds interesting. Would like to see some images from them and what you think of the S3 colour.

We are all low paid. :-(

Well, it only arrived this morning, and I've spent most of my day off wading through manuals and menus trying to set the thing up.
From the few shots I've taken in the garden the colours are very vivid but also exactly as my eyes see them.

May go out with the camera tomorrow, before my joyful return to work on Friday...

Cheers :)

This is where I learnt to take long exposure pix back in the day, and is where the name came from...it's what the local surfies call it. I tend to be driving a lot to interesting places and rock formations around the region for photography, they're clustered up and down the coast, always packing a bag full of lenses and torch gear etc... but it's nice to go back to basics here like old times with your local beach, bare feet, a simple camera setup, and a tripod mostly submerged under water :)
