Yes, but it was shrouded in scaffolding...

The parlour of the Queens Head in Tolleshunt D’Arcy; that’s my pint on the table…

The peephole of the conductor. To have a look at the audience before he/she enters the concert halll

What a terrific perspective! To be honest, I didn't even know that there was a peephole for the conductor at theaters. So cool!

That red boat made the entire photo. WHAM!

Love the contrast with the blue items on both the left and bottom right of the photo as well. :)
[doublepost=1492493904][/doublepost]I wanted to share with this with you guys if you're looking to pick up and bits and bytes on improving your photography -- you should really comb through and watch some of Peter McKinnon and Mango Street's videos on YouTube. I've learned some great stuff from them, even if a lot of the advice is seemingly "basic." :)

If you guys have any recommendations on people to check out on YouTube please feel free to share.

Only because you pre ordered an M10 and paid north of £2k for a photography course.
I've PM'd Mrs Ken so she knows! :p

Mate its honestly nowhere near £2k! Let's be honest, a £2k course for me at this juncture of my journey is wasted on me.

That's why i had to do it. It is half that and includes two nights in Gleneagles which is normally £400 a night on its own... So this is great value. Bring the girls up and they can enjoy Gleneagles while I get quality shutter time.

Good shout. Back to basics is good. We often miss or forget little tidbits of info that make life easier for us..

Your composition is good and the self-critique is helpful; the 18-55 really does need to be stopped down to f8-11 to get the kind of sharpness across this sort of image.

May I ask why you switch to manual focus? Is it practice?

The other reason for softening in hand held exposure is movement. Although 1/200th is well above the kind of exposure time when movement (with this lens) should be a problem have a good look at the soft areas just to make sure at 100-200%.. A bit of pixel peeping when you start out is not always a bad thing.

I hope I am not being presumptuous in thinking you are starting out in DSLR usage, but assuming that is so, have a good look at an experienced photographer's stance; it is quite different to using a phone type of camera or modern point and shoot.

With my apologies if I am out of turn.

Regards. Sharkey

Thank you Sharkey for your suggestions and helpful comments, I'll try to keep it in mind next time I'm out.

And yes, you are right, I'm just starting with DSLR; there is still plenty to learn.

Ondrej

I suppose you're right. Nothing left to learn!

Still enjoying it?

3 years already? Time flies.

When will the journey end?

That's a very philosophical question. Bang or whimper? Hmmm.

I'd planned on being nomadic for about five years, but I am very attuned to life on the road now; maybe I'll never stop. Where will I sleep tonight? Who knows...

Still enjoying it? You bet!

Heres a small piece I put together of four images that I called Perspective. each image has a different focus point and a different angle but encapsulates the same objects. I wanted to capture the beauty of the objects, even when it's not the focalpoint.
I shot the pictures with a sony a6300 and used a 135mm MD mount Minolta lens which gave me a very different bokeh.

Took something similar back in February (and I think I posted it in March). On Easter I went back to Fort Adams and Goat Island in Newport. It was overcast and there was a heavy fog. The previous pic of this fire hydrant was taken in early morning on a clear day and there was a shadow cast on the stone wall of Fort Adams. For this pic, no shadows from the soft light and the fog created some empty space in the upper right.

Light Vessel 21 at Gravesend
by Hugh Russell, on Flickr

Built in 1963 Light Vessel 21 is a unique 40 metre steel-hulled lightship, the last of the renowned Philip & Son’s ships to be commissioned by Trinity House. LV21 saw most of her service off the Kent coast on the Varne, East Goodwin and Channel stations. In 1981 she was involved in the worst Light Vessel collision in which the Lightvessel had survived. She was retired from service in 2008.

She has now been transformed into a floating art space and performance facility, designed to provide a range of services promoting and supporting the creative industries while celebrating and honouring the maritime traditions of the vessel. LV21 is a unique venue with an individual and distinct identity, one of Kent’s prime platforms for cultural activities across diverse artistic disciplines.

Cheers :)

So when is your art exhibition on board then?
It's certainly coloured to make it visible at sea isn't it?
