Driving south of Walsenberg, CO on I-25, I noticed a small sign saying: 'Ludlow Memorial next exit'. Had I blinked I would have missed it. I drove a couple of miles west, blinked and did almost miss the small memorial.

The Ludlow Massacre is a small side note of American History which I had never heard of till I saw that sign in September of 2014. Today marks the 107the anniversary of that event.

This slide from my 2014-10,000KM roadtrip series.

Woody Guthrie put this song together about the event, and whoever did the video added a lot of related photos.

To all the regular posters on the Digital Photography sites, what a welcome relief it is to see your photographs and comments.

I just watched the Apple Special Event, and there are some really great new products coming down the pike with much improved performance and design. But to read the comments by all the nay sayers is very depressing, nothing is ever any good enough, they all think they are experts. They should have done this or that. The rip apart the design of the new iMac which absolutely gorgeous in its minimalist design. As a stock holder I am impressed by the depth of the technology, advancements in design and concern for the environment. Can't wait to get a new iMac!

I love the brilliant, vivid colors of the new iMacs and these are machines which will be flying off store shelves, I'm very sure of it. My M1 MBP is a little speed demon and I'm tickled silly with her. Apple now offering these new 24" iMacs with M1 is a huge step up from the previous Intel baseline 21.5" iMacs. These colorful new machines will be popular, no question about it. I can hardly wait to see them in store displays!

As for me and future purchases, though, I'm waiting for the next step up with the next generation of Apple Silicon chip, as I need somewhat more power and more Thunderbolt ports than will be available on these new iMacs, plus I also prefer to use a combination of MBP on a stand with peripherals plus an external monitor as a desktop replacement, so to speak, since it offers me more flexibility and portability. (Also right now my primary goal for the next major purchase is Sony's A1 camera body, sometime in the next month or two.)

I think too many people on MR were expecting to see the new iMacs offered with the next generation of the AS chip in the 24" version plus in a larger (30"? 32"?) size as well, etc., etc. -- too bad they were disappointed. Some of us were more realistic, predicting that this first group of new iMacs would be still using the M1 chip, and to me that is more than a reasonable approach for Apple to take. The majority of iMac users are more than happy with the smaller, more basic machine, which fulfills many needs around homes and small offices.

PS, Allyance, on another topic: just saw your image of Christ Church on St Simons Island, Georgia. Friends of mine are going to be moving there in a few months once their new home has been built, and I'm already looking forward to being able to visit them!

Wait? It’s just occurred to me. Did you just switch to Sony because part of the camera is orange?

LOL, AFB!!!!!!! Actually, no, but after I had my A7R IV home and was really looking her over thoroughly plus gazing at the boxes in which the camera body and the new lenses had come, I thought, "OH, WOW!!!!! Everything's ORANGE!!!!! This was a move meant to happen!" :D

So, yeah, every time now I smile at the orange part when I'm attaching a lens to the mount area on the camera body..... It's ORANGE!!!!! :D

I do draw the line at buying a 24" M1 iMac just because it has a gorgeous orange back, though..... HOWEVER, if Apple ever releases the peripherals (keyboard, mouse, trackpad) meant to color-coordinate with the various iMac colors as a separate purchase rather than just something accompanying the iMac, I'd be all over an orange-accented keyboard and an orange Magic Mouse 2!!!! Bring them on, Apple...... You did it before with the Space Grey keyboard and Magic Mouse 2 which were meant to accompany the now-defunct Space Grey iMac Pro..... Please, Apple, just do this!!!!

You will love the place, Jekyll is close by too. Sea Island is now a gated community. Cumberland not that far but requires a boat ride. I remember on the return trip there was a nuclear sub on it's way out!

You and your friends should read books by Eugenia Price, famous author in those parts.

The name Eugenia Price sounds very familiar to me.....as a librarian, of course I've got authors and titles still bouncing around in my head even though I'm retired now. I'll check out her books and also ask my friends if they're familiar with her. Of my two friends, the woman of the couple is the one who was born and raised in Georgia and still every now and then lets a soft Southern accent escape.... She is really looking forward to going back home again although it will be a different part of the state than that in which she was raised. She's already had a few great chats with fellow graduates of the University of Georgia who live on St Simons, so knows that there will be kindred spirits on the island when she and her husband finally arrive there for good.

We photographers just have the same opinions about camera gear instead. It's totally the camera's fault when the shot doesn't turn out, and those darn manufacturers just aren't doing enough to bring our skill out. Why they can't just deliver an 8-300mm F1.2 pancake lens is beyond me.
