I was going to guess cherry, but I don’t see a lot of them where I live to have a confident answer! I think our springs are too hard on the ornamental varieties. We do have a junky landscape variety available that only lives maybe 15 years and looks pretty ragged by the time it’s done. We also have the native black cherry, but it doesn’t have the showy flowers and becomes a large tree at maturity.
that link I posted says that variety is the hardiest of cherries, so maybe it would work where you are? i love those giant double flowers.

Shenk's Ferry, PA has a Wildflower Preserve that's excellent this time of year.

Hard to say. We can grow magnolias here, but they often get turned to mush by late frosts. It happened again this year for many of them. I can think of a few years where it was a really cold morning for the Easter bunny.

Sorry, I have no idea what type of plant this is. I see them all over the trails near San Francisco Bay. The flowering part of the plant are very beautifully this time of year.
I have an awesome app on my iPhone called Seek. You point the iPhone camera at the flower or insect etc and it pretty much instantly tells you what it is. It also works from photographs and it identified the flower in question as “Pride of Madeira”.

Does it look like this? https://www.thespruce.com/growing-pride-of-madeira-5088226
