Lovely portrait. I'm a very big Common Grackle fan. They're noisy, they sound like a creaking gate, they carry the odd disease or two, they march around like mafia dons and are generally considered "bad birds". They're fantastic parents and pretty smart too. I like bad birds. They have personality, generally. Excellent!

You’re right about the parenting. On hot days I’ve seen them moisten food for their chicks in the waterfall where I photograph. The iridescent colors are marvelous.

I’m always amused at a cat’s confidence in their body size. They often fit themselves into a size 6 when they really are a size 10.
