I grew up in Binghamton, NY and we had Lilacs in our front and back yard. Some of the most fragrant blossoms ever. They are one of the things I miss about the North East. We don't have them here in the Cary, NC area. We do have Crape Myrtle trees that look similar but no fragrance at all.Our lilacs just may have bloomed on Easter had it not been in the 30s all day!

Yeah, we can grow those here in the Midwest, but they often freeze to the ground on cold winters. They just end up being a shrub, but nice all the same. My grandma’s old home had a lilac hedge that was a mix of the traditional purple, but also white. Made for a nice hedge this time of year!I grew up in Binghamton, NY and we had Lilacs in our front and back yard. Some of the most fragrant blossoms ever. I see you are from BC. Do you still live there? This looks just like the Japanese Cherry trees we have here in Cary, NC. They are absolutely beautiful. It's starting to get pink here now -- some tree blossoms captured on the grounds of a nearby school via an early-morning walkabout recently.

many people mis-read it the first time. Partick has a long historyInteresting shot, I read that as "Patrick" for a second but then re-read it. Not a typo I presume?
