My son is the only freshman starter on his lacrosse team. Despite the fact that he is 6' tall and bigger than some seniors, he sometimes feels nervous playing with the older kids. If you know lacrosse, he plays close defense (long stick). I've noticed in his games that he often gives his man a wide berth and kids on other teams (and some, but not all of his teammates) tend to go after the offensive player. I don't think he was doing it "wrong" per se; he also would keep an eye on the field at the same time. But I know only as much lacrosse as I need to, watching as a mom for the past eight years, not as a player, so I did honestly wonder if it was a strategy from his coaches. He told me he was just apprehensive about doing something wrong and then being reprimanded by the older players on his team.

But yesterday he decided I had made a good point and he decided to play more aggressively. He would not let up on his opponents and his coach remarked after the game how well he had played. (He is in the white uniform pushing the kid with the ball in this photo.) I have a series of 24 images in a row from this play of him chasing this kid (who plays with him on his club team in the off season), just not letting up. I'm still always nervous about him getting injured, but since this is the position he plays, I was really proud of him.

Thanks! It's an American Robin -- sometimes referred to as "Robin Red Breast". They're among the first birds we see in the Spring. I was surprised when walking around the lake to see this guy perched on the railing of the footbridge, as normally they hang out in the grass to find worms or they're in the trees. I guess he was enjoying the water view!
In Western Canada sighting the first Robin, is usually a harbinger of the first spring blizzard.

BTW said blizzard is underway as I type.

mystery object in the sky:

Noticed it while getting the washing in. Pics were taken with my iphone mini so not the best, with the second one zoomed in.

It was kinda eerie..as for a long time it hadn't appeared to movie.

A weather balloon perhaps..but today with satellites..who would still use those??
