A while back Genshi mentioned his practice of trying out different techniques every week. I haven't been quite that frequent, but have tried to vary my usual range of photography.

Here is an attempt of mine at minimalism.

I've been on holiday in Rhodes this past week ... I've missed checking everyones photos! I was too scared to use my data on my phone to check, I've really enjoyed looking at what's been posted while I've not been able to look! Like a present waiting for me. I've got loads of photos to try to organise, I've never had this many and it seems like hard work! Here is a picture I took of my girlfriend as we left our hotel on the first night to go to dinner. I don't know if it's technically good or bad that the light from the floor lights up her face, but I think it looks cool!

Lighting from below usually gives an ominous look (think Halloween), but it thinks it's OK in this picture and seems to work. Looking forward to seeing more.

Ah thanks for making sense of the lighting, the halloween explanation makes sense, like ghost stories around the camp fire! That'll be good to keep in mind for October.

Thistle.

I've been trying to learn how to use a Sekonic Meter ( L-358) I like it so far. Here is a shot I took in the side yard tonight. Canada Thistle here have gone to seed BIG time. Barry
