Understood! So I like this photo, but her eyes look a little weird to me. Not sure if its part of the PP or just how she looked when you took it.

Here is the image out of the camera so if she still looks odd then it's her! If not then it's my PP.

Is that the new East-wing of the shack Doylem?

The building has a rather sad history. Storrs Hall has an enviable position, on a promontory, with a south-facing view down the lake. But the most notable resident, John Bolton, made his money in the slave trade. There are tunnels under the hotel, and what appear to be cells (I’ve seen them). If you believe the stories, slaves were chained up there, while Bolton entertained lavishly upstairs.

Another story suggests that Bolton had an affair with a female slave, and, when he abandoned her, she put a curse on the house. I only know the building (now a hotel) has an air of sadness...

Teamwork on Ullswater...

Last Saturday I finally had a chance to use my two year old lightning trigger.

This is cropped down from a wider view. What do you think of the composition, color and contrast between the foreground and sky? I am still trying to figure out how to edit this one.

Went out for some sunset shooting tonight. By the time I got to my destination it was a little too cloudy. Still it was good to give my new tripod a go. Found the lens to be a little limiting tonight. Couldn't get the shot I wanted. Still I quite like this one. It could probably benefit form some editing, but my cold beer is calling me!

Great shot, I can almost feel the mist.

Thanks for that. I wasn't sure it would work when I was there, but when I opened it up at home on the iMac there was a pleasant surprise waiting for me.

Thank you for that information Doylem. When I initially looked at this building I thought immediately of Gatsbyesque type wealth and power misuse. After reading your history notes, I wasn't too far off the mark, sadly. Somebody paid attention to the position of this place when designing and locating it by the sound of its facing and location. Rare for an older place and even many newer ones too.

I went for a walk around our area today and discovered this abandoned suitcase on the side of a dirt track, brushed it off and raised it's handle then positioned it in prime view for this sunset capture.

I think my panorama's are getting better slowly.

Click the picture to see it much larger. Click the magnifying symbol a couple of times to get there... Photobucket really need to just allow you to access the large size version directly...

Beautiful colours in that sky.

Not my usual type of subject for posting. Took this with my iPhone 4S and liked the composition. My wife with one of our cats, Zoe.

A very slide film feel to the colours of this one! Lovely! Do you have a Flickr/instagram page as I find myself liking a lot of your shots.

Here is mine. Trying out some new PP.

As always, comments appreciated!

Thanks a lot Archie, it really means a lot to me that coming from you! I do have a flickr, however I only use it currently to upload photos to this forum! So that means there's not much on it :(

I'll aim to upload some more photos uploaded to it so it's less barren ASAP!
