Been busy.
I did get out with my camera this morning but suspect it will be mostly crap tourist shots!
I fly home today. Currently waiting for bag drop to open. Then I can go join the queue for security.
Looking forward to getting home eventually!

Safe trip mate... Shame you lugged the dslr all that way.. That was a nice looking ice cream!

Love hood ornaments. Not familiar with this one...what is it? BTW, great shot. Looking forward to more. Here's one that I may have posted before but just love it. Another time, another era. Things are a bit bland these days.

Thank you very much. Tomorrow I'll post a picture of the car with a little more information about it.

So, what car does the hood ornament come from in your photo? (I do appreciate cars)

It's an infrared converted camera, an old Panasonic G1.
There's a bit to do in PhotoShop etc. to get the full effect though.

Cheers :)

Hugh

I ordered some cheap 720nm IR 'made in China' from the e-bay few days ago to play around with an unmodified camera, but probably the results will be not so good...if any at all :) Well ... I guess few bucks spent for testing is ok anyway. :)

I have to admit you are putting out some nice images from that franken-sony of yours!

Thanks! ;)

The only thing I could probably use/want at the moment is support of the HAF as it only has contrast detection AF. The AF/MF swithc and focus ring on the SEL 90mm macro lens is very useful, though.

Well, the first difference you will find with an addon fliter is that it will block the light and cause you to need at least 30 second exposures to get a shot. You will need a tripod, and probably it would be best to manually focus on the subject before screwing the filter in.

Cheers :)

Thank's!

Yeah, I remember reading about the long exposure times and MF. Sounds a bit time consuming :)
I think it was mentioned somewhere that adjusting WB in camera is required/ or would help with IR. Still trying to understand this better...
P.S. Found some more info here: https://www.lifepixel.com/photography-inspiration/white-balance-isnt-important

Yes, you will need to set up a custom white balance to switch to just for when you have the IR filter attached, or you will just get red toned photos. The link you posted is a fine example of what is needed and why; although LifePixel are a commercial converter of cameras it should be the same for filter use.

Back to my people observing from the other week. I thought these two made quite the unique couple. The guy on the right wasn't too happy having his photo taken though.

To be honest, @Alexander.Of.Oz , I think we've seen this one previously, as I remember a comment about the handlebar moustache ;)

Cheers :)
