Second star on the right....
Full moon over the ocean at the shore in Spring Lake NJ. A planet and a couple of planes too. Haven't figured how to whiteout in Capture One.

Knew nothing about this car so I did a little bit of research to learn more about this 'mid-size luxury saloon'. Wasn't able to get the story on how the owner came by this car, might have been interesting.

Took a run up to Loch Earn to get a picture of Rob Mulholland's "Still" that was commissioned for The Four Seasons Hotel at St Fillans (not to be confused with the Four Seasons luxury chain).

Somewhat creepy. Or maybe just a little too reminiscent of those Terminator movies for me.

LOL... yes it is like the T1000.... it is 3m tall and is in the water on a 1 tonne concrete base anchor so we are safe. It is stuck in the water for now. You will be pleased to know they took the other three away. They were three mirrored silhouette figures that were really freaky as depending on the angle of view they sometimes disappeared!

Reminds me of the ones at Crosby Beach by Antony Gormley.

Also the horizon needs a small lift on the right to my eye. Maybe you had too much Buckfast before setting off!

Years ago I almost bought a Rover 2000TC. Well, I kind of had an accident during the test drive. Wound up pretty much paying the people for the car, then there was the ticket and some court/attorney costs. It was a really cool car though. I made up for the loss years later when I was in Germany. Bought a 72 BMW 3.0 CSi, now that was a great car!

But then the tin man would be wonky !

Cheers :)

Hugh

Apparently he is 316 marine grade stainless steel dont you know... :)

I take that as he is extra shiny and of course wont rust.

He does tend to fall over in the winter because of the winds so they take him indoors until the spring.

Whilst you folks up North were having an eclipse of the moon, I believe, this was happening down under.

Wherever I hang my hat...
What I find most interesting about this photograph is all that (apparent) empty space and the houses are built in a row like that attached. I recognize that's the American in me talking as we do like our space. Did the mine have only 10 workers or something? I realize intellectually that this probably wasn't the case and there may be more houses (or was) just out of view but that is what makes the shot for me.

This row of cottages (in UK we say a ‘terrace’, or a row of ‘terraced houses’) was almost certainly built for lead miners. It was a cheap way of building houses for labouring people, a style mostly used in towns and cities. A lot of miners would walk to work from a village, which could be a few miles since some of the mines were quite remote. It was a tough life!

This little community (too small be be called a village) now consists of only about a dozen houses, a few barns and lots of mining remains, including two chimneys). The landscape is scarred with mining debris, and spoil heaps, as far as the eye can see. Hurst would have been a busy place 150 years ago, when the mining was at its height. Imagine a wild west frontier town set in the Yorkshire Dales!
