Man flu? Just got over that myself. It came on on my last day at work for two weeks. Great timing!

I always shop for odd bits on Xmas Eve for Mrs MacRy as it's not at all chaotic in the shops and I'm less inclined to want to punch people.

I did see a nice scarf that I thought she'd like then thought to myself "20 quid? She could knit one just like it herself"

Think of it like man flu+!

Hope you found her something special. Enjoy the rest of your Christmas.

Atticus? A small cagebird, surely?

I'd love to say it is in reference to To Kill A Mockingbird, but it's literally because it rhymes with 'catticus'. His full name is Baron Atticus von Catticus, courtesy of my girlfriend :)

Merry Christmas , safe travels , and good times !

Weird looking tripod? :)

Expensive one too! I think I got lucky building it up fairly cheaply. The whole bike would have cost a fortune, easily more than $10K if I got everything locally in Australia. Just looking at some on sale new (Cervelo P5), they are $11,999.

Very, very nice bike. I'm a road cyclist but no where near as serious as you are. That bike has got to cost a fortune. If I guessed, you're north (more than) of $14,000 USD?

Have fun riding it! And Merry Christmas (or whatever you may believe in) to all

Thanks. :) All up, less than AUD$6K. Got very lucky. I've already had it out for a run and yes, it is fast. My other bike is a very light Giant TCR and it easily outdoes that on the flat. Also quicker than my track bike too. Out of them all, the track bike is the most enjoyable to ride, it is so simple, no brakes and no gears.

At the moment with time off, I'm finding time to do 100+km every day with the idea of improving cardio and getting really lean again.

Spare a thought for those animals that aren't as fortunate as your pets at this time of the year and make a donation to your local animal shelter or charity, where dedicated professionals go above and beyond the call of duty to help those that are sick, injured or abandoned.

I hope that I'm not breaking any forum rules here, but if you want to donate to the RSPCA charity (Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals) and you are in the UK you can send a text saying HELP218 to 70099 and it will donate £3. Every little helps.

Already pay by direct debit mate. Very worthy cause. Our (me and parents) last 4 dogs have been rescued dogs from the shelter.

Good man! Our furry (and not so furry) friends need all the help they can get. Not just at Christmas, but all year round. Good on yer and Merry Xmas my friend :)

Winter Rose

Went out to Grain this morning to see if there were any birds around - nothing moved, so I ended up with this; a wild rose still in bloom ...

Thanks AFB.
I tell a lie - there was some movement - a heron flew past while I was getting out of the car, but it disappeared into the reeds and hid from me :(

You feeling any better?

Cheers :)

Still pretty lousy. At least I won't have put any weight on! Started to snow now, but I've got no chance of grabing any shots.
I hate it when wildlife hides, then pops out when your camera isn't in hand.

Sometimes it pays to drive slow, we were traveling on a back road to Loon Lake, Oregon, when we heard a rumbling noise. A short distance later we happened onto this scene.
