Coins in a tree stump? What a strange practise!
- ISO 250
Do you know how they get them in there? do they hammer them in or wait for the wood to be wet and soft?

That's a great idea. Of course, when I'm in a favourite pub, I hate to destroy the atmosphere: y'know, poking a camera in people's faces and getting in the way. And there are pubs (like this one) I don't want to change... or get more crowded. I'm conflicted.
Where I photographed the old gent yesterday...
My vote goes for the colour version - just the right vintage atmospheric to go with the great days gone by of rail travel.Thanks. I wasn't sure whether I liked this one or the similar B&W.
Blew the highlights in the clock in that one though. Think I prefer the colour because of that.
I'm guessing hammer them. Most are bent (hence me not removing them for my 600mm 2.8 fund!).Do you know how they get them in there? do they hammer them in or wait for the wood to be wet and soft?

Do you find that some of the coziest pubs are not very photogenic? because they are full of nooks and sometimes just arent very plush inside as it is all about the atmosphere?
Another one from the Lakes. It was raining pretty hard at this point. I took this from the car.

All the fun of the fair... by another scotsman, on Flickr
Thanks. I have similar memories of places I've been without a camera in my youth.I know I am biased but the British countryside is a beautiful thing to look at. As a younger me I used to go to Kielder forest with my dad and we would camp and walk round. I wish I had had a camera back then to capture some of the beauty I can now see in front of me. It cannot be stated enough, that youth has no idea of the beauty of the world and of what is right in front of you if you open your eyes and actually see.
This shot makes me want to get out into the hills again.
Thanks for posting.
Good luck with the weather Kenoh. I also prefer the lighting on this one but the composition is lacking something. Comments always appreciated.I like this but think the lighting in the Fair and Phonebox image on Flickr is really interesting.
I am hoping the weather holds out do I can take my daughters to George Square in Glasgow later this afternoon when it is dark, and yes, I did use dark and afternoon in the same sentence! welcome to the North! otherwise known as Gods Country!

I like it a lot. The light trails add mystery to why it isnt a full circle. The lead in from the phone box is nice..... You are too hard on yourself...
I think it's one of those swinging boat thingies
Cheers
