Thank you very much. It's always fun to photograph a celebrity and this bird was a real star around here for the couple days it stopped while on her journey south.

Close up? With his 500mm lens I bet he was a fair distance away.Granted, but then like Gloria Swanson, you got her when she was "ready for her closeup". Such a beautiful timed shot to capture the fanned feathers, catching the steel blue tones... scoring a 12 on the "1-10 wish I took that picture scale"!

I'm still trying to decide if I need a 200-500 mm for Christmas. Prices go up in January so I'm a bit tempted.
The only thing putting me off is images like C&A. Not sure I'd get that sharpness and boka with a 5.6 aperture

Or people who's wife doesn't see the bank statement!Go for it AFB. The 200 – 500mm sounds like a good lens and 5.6 isn't bad at all. The bokeh may not be quite as nice but as we know, there's more to a smooth background that just the lens. I was lucky with the background for the bluebird shot. There was nothing behind the perch for at least 50 metres. Any lens will make that look good.
Besides only crazy people pay the insane price they want for a 500 f/4. Oh wait a minute…
Like it but I wish I could figure out what it is Abstract?
