So something out of my comfort zone from a few weeks back. I was at Hyper Japan and thought I'd have a go at a little concert photography.
As anybody on here who knows will testify, I don't shoot people and the changing lights of the stage was a real challenge for me.
I was using a flash, but was quite far back for my SB900 to do much. Also my D750 was having its repair, so I was using the back up D7100.

Comments always welcome.
That has worked really well! I got tickets for The Stone Roses in June for Christmas so I will be trying my hand at pictures at that I imagine.

Here's some bacon that I made for a pizza earlier tonight. I apologize for the multiple photos, but I feel like it's warranted. This cast iron skillet was given to me by my mom last year and it was one that she got for a wedding present approximately 44 years ago. Prior to that one of my uncles used it for a few years, so it has been around the block.

Yesterday was the 2 year anniversary of my father's death and this gift has meant so much. My dad wasn't the best of cooks and I remember one particular time from growing up my mom was out of town (which was rare) and my dad made some burgers in this skillet for my sister and I. At the time I remember not thinking much of them, though they were fine burgers, but my mom later told me that he was so proud of himself for cooking dinner as his usual dinner response to her being out of town was bringing home take out. It was really nice to hear that, and as someone that likes to cook I know that same excitement when I try something new and it comes out halfway decent.

The following two photos are the bottom of the pan and the inside of it, if you look closely you can see the upper portion of the "tic-tac-toe" marks from the cornbread that's been made in this skillet over the years. My wife and I love to cook, we thoroughly enjoy cooking together, and this skillet gets used a ton around our apartment. I only hope that I can keep it another 40+ years and pass it off to my child one day.

Did you enjoy it this year?
Not really. The Tobacco Dock venue this year was bloody freezing. My autistic daughter couldn't really cope with the noise and the lights of the concert venue, but still tried.
So basically we saw the first 5 minutes of each act, then had to leave as she couldn't cope.
She still waited until the end to see her favourite singer they had on, Hatsune Miku who is a vocaloid (google it because it's kind of hard to explain!).
By then none of us had eaten so it was a long long day.

Ah sorry to hear that. I know that going to this is a big thing for her.

That is a great story. Thanks for sharing

She's talking about not going next year which is a shame for her. If we don't we will try Comic con again as it's only down the road for us.

Hopefully she decides she is up for it next year. We know how much you enjoy it... :)

That Vocaloid sounds interesting. Googled it and it sounds intruiging

I took the girls to the local trampoline centre today. They had great fun jumping round like loons for an hour. Puffed them out and now they are in a heap on the sofa. Early bath then bed - RESULT!

Sure it was just them on the trampoline?
Enjoy your early bath and bed!

Hey! You know the rules! Anything fun HAS to be checked by dad first to make sure it is fit for purpose! I may or may not have twinged my back. Plus, my knees may be ready to seize up tomorrow but the monkeys had a ball!

Forgot how sore trampolines are when you bounce on em wrong! #lostthetoleranceofyouth
