That's me, inside, sitting by the fire, supping a pint of Seafarer (the Royal Oak, near Havant)... Cheers... :)

Visiting cornwall for a few days, really struggled to get the tripod steady but first time attempting cloud like water with an ND grad. Very cloudy day so had to really play with the sky to get a nice picture.

hoping for the sun to come visit tomorrow so i can attempt again for st Michaels mount.

Comments welcome! Couldn't pick which one but as it's the same thing i reckon that'll be okay ;P

First one for me but if I were you I'd go with AFB's view:) For what its worth, I'd suggest that they were a bit overexposed. Are you using an ND Grad or simply an ND? Solid ND is probably easier to get the correct exposure since it affects the whole scene equally and is simply an offset from the unfiltered exposure setting. Grads are more suitable for a difference in exposure between the sky and the water - your cloudy day probably doesn't have such a large difference between sky and water so perhaps more difficult to get the optimum exposure for both. You seem to have exposed for the rocks at the expense of the sky/water which might be your intention in order to get featureless sky/water to contrast with the rocks. Could go even more extreme on post processing and increase the contrast even further to exaggerate this effect, possibly in B&W. Good luck with the light on a beautiful coastline.

Your right just an ND, I actually increased the Iso quite a bit as it was so cloudy and was playing around with exposure times. Think today it'll just be an 8 second exposure and see how that goes!

That's the one I hoped you'd take :)

Cheers :)

Question is though, did I do well enough?

It was amazing, it was about 8pm and there was no one about. Deserted so I headed down to the quay where the boat across the river comes in and took a few. There is a colour version on Flickr but I dont like it as much as the B&W version. I like the balance of the light in the B&W version as opposed to the different colours in the colour one. There was only one couple hanging round waiting for the boat and they were obviously feeling like I was in the way, staring at the guy with the coffee and the camera waiting for me to get lost so they could get some quality time.

Now I worked on the Thames and Medway for a lot of years (before the nice government sold our boats), and I can't tell whether you're on the North side at the PLA jetty, or the South side at Butlers Wharf?

No matter, I like it a lot!, and yes, better than the colour version :)

Cheers :)

Thank you kindly, North side next to the Tower. I was going to walk to it and walk over but I got a nice hotel this trip and couldnt waste serious catch up on sleep time so I called it quits with the obligatory postcard shot... :)

Tower Bridge Hotel - nice views of St. Katherine's Dock? Some lovely boats in there, and a good pint in The Dickens if it's not swimming in yuppies.

Cheers :)
