Christ! Which evil genius planned an office lift and shift in December?
The one who doesn't do Christmas!

Also our current lease expires 31/12/15.
It was going to be next week which meant I'd have missed the UK Christmas party.

Only two of us worked today. Already told my line manager I'm working from home Wednesday (I fly back Tuesday).
As a special bonus I get to catch up on all the work I've missed whilst being here!
The firm that just keeps on giving...

Just thought I'd share this, from Crayford dog track the other night.
These are absurdly difficult to shoot given that the lighting is very poor and for obvious reasons no flash is allowed.
Most of the blur is noise from the high ISO. Processed with Noise Ninja.

First time I've tried this - comments and help for future visits welcome...

I'd be curious to see the shot without the heavy noise reduction. I think it's taking away too much detail.

Friend of mine shoots a lot of Motorsport. I think a bit more panning on a tripod or monopod might help.
As CE3 says a bit too much noise reduction. Try reducing it and then going B&W.

Or practise on Lola!

I think it is really good considering the odds stacked against you. Nicely done.

Here's the original, cropped more or less the same as the processed file -

Being a little stupid, I had f/2.8 available, and therefore would have been able to use a lower ISO, but I didn't because all the reviews of that lens said it was soft wide open. I could have at least tried it though :(

Cheers :)

No room for tripods mate, the place was heaving with punters.

As for Lola, I don't see her that often (it's hit and miss which friends we see when walking our hound), and never in those lighting conditions.

Cheers :)

Tricky one indeed. As AFB suggested, I'd try and go down the panning route - lets you avoid much of the blurring of the dogs that a low shutter speed brings. Also worth using the autofocus tracking mechanism as you pan, particularly with the relatively wide aperture/shallow DoF.

Was panning as they went past, tried 1/1000, too dark, also too dark at 1/800, so settled on 1/500.

You're right, I should have tried 3D tracking, but I only received the camera that morning.

Just won a Nikon 50mm 1.4 for about 100 quid on eBay - that should help :)

Cheers :)
