I think there was a glitch with the smilies for a short time, as I noticed that none of my "likes" were showing and I went back to correct that. In the process I think I accidentally hit the "laugh" smiley rather than the straight "like" smiley the way I had intended. Sorry about that!

when nature and suburbia collide.

this should be a photo of a regal buck, but unfortunately while sparring with another buck, they got entangled in this net. i'm guessing it's a soccer net, but not really sure. i called animal control, and they are aware of him, but they can't do anything about him because he isn't technically injured, and he runs away every time they get close to him. as much as i hate deer in town (our county has a cull program, but not our town, which is really dumb imo), i really don't like to see them distressed like this. the police were able to free the other deer but i guess this guy will just be adorned for the rest of his life, or until the net decays.

Excellent shot and story. Sad to see the ever shrinking wilderness.

Fortunately bucks shed and regrow their antlers annually. I believe it's usually December or January, unless you are in a hotter region.

oh, i did not know this! which is surprising given that i grew up in an area where we had the monday after thanksgiving off of school because it was the first day of deer season.

Fish and Wildlife should at least tranquilize it and remove the net.

I don't have new images to post other than the Auroras, but I have no idea which ones I posted already (I have hundreds). By the way, for the past couple of days the ambient temperature (at night and a little warmer during the day) has been from minus 34 to -30 degrees F. (-36.6667 °Celsius?), which is too cold to be trampling around outdoors :)

Took a few like this one a few summers ago with a Canon 7D (cropped sensor), and 400mm lens.
