We have lots of critters and bugs here in NC. Some are pretty, some are strange, and some are just plain ugly.
This one is called the Ailanthus Webworm Moth, and it is pretty but what they come from is anything but. Shot on iPhone 13PM, Sept. 2022.

On a recent trip back to my home town, I drove my my great-grandparents' home. I have many fond memories of visiting them in this house... and while I was a much smaller lad, I recall this house being much, much larger. Maw and Pappy raised seven children, including my grandmother, in this 868 square foot* house.

* According to Zillow.

One of my earliest efforts with the 4x5. Lens was the Schneider Xenar 127 that came with the camera. The limitations of that lens are obvious in this shot where the lens was shifted significantly off center.

The location is Larch Valley - Banff National Park - between Morraine Lake and Lake Louise. The cutoff mountain is Sentinel Peak. September of 1976. Film was the C-22 version of Kodak Vericolor. This from a low resolution (600dpi) scan on the Epson 2450 scanner.

The place looks so calming and Peaceful!

Looks are deceptive in this case - the lake is right on the roadway. But the area is really quite famous because of this view - Shuksan shows up in a lot of ads and commercials. A friend even saw it as a full-wall mural in a bank in Switzerland! I'm glad my buddy and I climbed it many decades ago before the crowds really came - we were the only ones on the peak at the time. The whole area there just takes your breath away - just up the way are beautiful views of Mt. Baker, a volcano with active steam vents on it.
