Grassy stream in Great Falls, Virginia. I saw someone earlier had a Great Falls shot.

Buttermere, early morning, before the wind disturbed the water...

Now THAT is a great shot. I will admit to not always being wow'd by the shots you post but every now and again (especially recently) you've posted some exquisite shots. I quite love the one above.

I like it quite a bit. The colors and framing work well together. Silhouettes are what I consider very tough shoots, and this is nice and original.

Dale

Thanks Dale. That actually means a lot. :D

I spent a long time editing the picture, because I thought the original looked too washed out.

Thanks again, Dale!

Dale,

Did you try this shot with a slower shutter speed as well? I feel as though 1/60 is not slow enough for wispy water and too fast for freezing the droplets. Just wondering :)

Taken from Cypress Mountain with a long lens. Great views up there.

Nice pic... I want to get up there and take some similar shots... what shutter speed did you use?

Here's my contribution... one of my favorite shots from my recent trip to Hawaii. This one is taken from Napili Beach on Maui. There was a lot of haze in the air due to over-active volcanic activity on the Big Island.

I was not familiar with the route at the time and didn't want to go drive off a cliff in the dark so I didn't use my tripod. Silly me. This is shot at 1/50. It's a little more ethereal but I like the hood of water flowing over the central rock in the original.

Well, this is my first pic in this threads, It's my grandmother, it's taken with a Canon A-1 SLR, in Fuji film ISO 400.

Hope you like, :D

Fog at Fairy Castle:

4335120554_70d22c8ca1_o.jpg

This cairn sits on top of the Bronze Age passage grave, known as Fairy Castle, on the summit of Two Rock Mountain in the Dublin Mountains. At an altitude of 536m, it's one of the highest situated megalithic monuments in the area and is visible from a wide area around the county. The entrance to the passage was once described by locals as a "cave" but can no longer be seen (it has probably disappeared below the peat bog), although a small depression on one side of the mound may mark its location.
