In a coffee shop.

Lovely picture, charming and natural and just life-affirming. Very well taken.

Magnificent. What a wonderful photograph.

Mmmmm... nice...

Shouting down hatch: "One more imaginary coconut, pronto"...

Lovely shot - and few things are more enjoyable than throwing things for a dog to fetch, especially on a deserted beach on a cold, winter's, day. Great fun for all concerned.

along the Elbow River using a ridiculous filter stack, 2 x ND8's and a polarizer, 4 second shutter at 100 ISO, just playing around ...

PS thanks kenoh for your kind words yesterday, always a pleasure to share with this group!

Give that man a coconut!

The statue is next to Poole Harbour. Apparently, Brownsea Island, nearby, was the where he first set up camp...

Baden Powell first established his 'scouts' - a youth corps - at Mafeking. They ran messages for the beleaguered British.

The bugle used by Baden-Powell's bugler in the Mafeking siege is in my possession having been passed along in my family for many years.

Unfortunately I have no written evidence of provenance, and no other authenticating evidence exists aside from the use of native African copper in its manufacture. The 'bell' is trimmed with brass and the original steel mouthpiece is still firmly attached. The original dark green plaited cord and tassel adorning the bugle have long since turned to dust.

Just thought it might be interesting :)

Coming home from work today there was a ton of ice in my driveway. Noticed this impression from my wife's tire as I was walking inside. Grabbed my camera and a tripod to shoot it. Nikon 105mm @ f/8. ISO 64. 20 sec exposure.

Just been catching up. So many beautiful photos this month with a wonderful series of snowy owl pictures from Cheese & Apple, hummingbirds from MCH and others too many to list.

A slow one with the ND filter. I new the weather wasn't going to help with a nice photo, so thought I'd slow things down to give a bit of interest.

This is a nice one AFB. Very serene. We've had it grey for far too long but you've made the most of it here. We missed out on your sleet shower though!

Classic case of being in the wrong place at the wrong time when the tornado struck! Very effective needfx.

Beautiful! Love the positioning and the colours. Lovely picture.

This one is gorgeous! You could have it done on canvas for your wall. I like the way you've left the background dark to emphasise the golden light on the pool.

A quiet corner of Christchurch...

This is a lovely photograph Doylem. Market towns have a lot of character and you've emphasised it with the golden lights at blue hour. Pity there's no kebab van, it would really have set it off!

A walk in the park

That brings back memories of being out there working, sitting in the crisp air of a Sunday afternoon with a hot cup of coffee to keep me warm and enjoying the world going by. Lovely shot.

----------

Came across a bunch of Chinese school girls at the park on the weekend, I'm guessing they were here for some kind of Chinese New Year celebration/event...

The strong contrast between red and blue on this one really works for me. Well done.

I know I am only allowed one a day but I dont post everyday...

This one I was going to post in the weekly challenge as an icon of Glasgow. It is rare to see one intact as usually they are damaged beyond reasonable recognition but in the rougher areas of this fine city, they can usually be seen strewn around playgrounds and other public gathering places. Those of you from around these parts will likely get this humour. Those not, well it is a nice picture of a bottle no? :)

Something we all take for granted and wonder about it's absence on these cold winter days: Our Sun.

From Nasa's Solar Dynamics Observatory...5 years, 2,600 terabytes of data and 200 million images. And I think my hard drive is full.

You really have to watch this: Our Sun
