I love this... Classic Doylem! It was your photos like that that inspired me to get back into photography several years ago.

Here's one that I took last weekend at the top of Quarry Rock in Deep Cove. I went a bit crazy on dramatizing the sky but I was testing the capabilities of my new RAW editor... (Before and After)

Have had to move out of the studio, here's me contemplating where to go next.

Fake edit: Nargh, I'm not contemplating jack ****. It's just a self portrait.

In full disclosure, I had to stitch two photos together for this one because my original shot of the bird landing on the utility pole was poorly framed.

That is a lovely photograph.

And it sent me straight to Mr Google for further information, because it struck me that this is a lot older than a city in NZ which was the only place I knew of which boasted this name; another ancient English market towns (I love them), and love prowling around, camera in hand, photographing them..

Thanks! It's taken in the grounds of the Department of Education on Marlborough Street.

Another Government Department:

Actually, I should have recognised your earlier shot, (of the Dept of Education) but I had never seen it from that angle. Very, very nice shot, (I was kicking myself, trying to think of where I had seen this particular building). Anyway, I love the idea of a series of photographs of Government Departments.

Stunning. The sort of photograph that one simply marvels at, while staring, open-mouthed, at then splendours of the night sky.

Our subconscious reluctance to allow - or to admit - the idea of nature effortlessly adapting to the landscape and tools and implements of the modern urban landscape is something I want to think further on.

Of course a bird will land on a utility pole - it is highly convenient. The fact the the utility pole in question is a crude expression of the triumph of function over form is our problem, not the bird's.

Very nice picture, anyway.

Kind words but in my case you got it the wrong way round. Your shots are fabulous and like a few others I seem to stalk on here, your skills are what I aspire to with my photography.

Ken.

Was back in Dublin last week for work. Spent time in the city, around the airport and Cabinteely.

Worked in Cabinteely 12 years ago and I couldn't believe how much it has changed!

Possibly the last one I'll post from the recent blizzards. Most of the pics I took were with my newest lens, a 24mm Nikon PC-E. I took *many* pics of a door in my kitchen looking out at the porch as the snow climbed higher and higher with each storm. I was interested in capturing one view of the rising snow on my deck and saw it as an opportunity to learn how to shoot with a tilt-shift lens. Changing shooting distance, adjusting tripod height, getting the camera aimed squarely at the door, adjusting the amount of shift, playing with exposing for the inside or the outside. All were interesting mental puzzles that made me more aware of the technical aspects of photography.

Not sure the result reflects the amount of time and effort involved. But that's okay. It was a very valuable learning experience for me.

It's been a couple of rainy, foggy days here again. So to "celebrate" the recurring weather, here's another shot from the foggy day a few weeks ago.

I just realized I forgot to clean up a couple dust spots on PS. Aside from that, comments always appreciated.

PS: Everyone does such an awesome job on here with the trees, and beach and the city. Since I'm kinda close to LA but not quite there, and kinda close to the beach but not quite there, and kinda close to the forest but not quite there, I figured I would try to show the beauty of the desert.
