Even more difficult task - can you find the fire extinguisher?

Thanks :D

Incidentally, it very nearly was 'scrapped' to the depths of my SSD - until I revisited it the next day with a clearer mind. I'm still not 100% happy with something about it (the grad line) but as my wife says, only I notice these things. I think she's right.

On a side note I see what you are all saying about selling prints. I sell a few of mine and I literally 'make' around between £5 and £10 per print. I only frame images to hang in the places that feature my work, or in the case of where I'm exhibiting. As a result, the cost goes up. My first exhibition back in August had a commission rate of 40%. I had to mark up my prints AND frames to absorb the cost. Still managed to sell a few right enough.

I'e just had a woman message me on my fb photography page to order a canvas of that image you just commented on. She declined after I said the canvas would cost me £71.60 without postage. I was going to take £75 with P&P on top. I don't see that I'm greedy or anything but some people do expect images to sell for a low price generally :/

Oh and thanks... nice to know your cast off kicks my best's butt... :)

The joy of the digital age I'm afraid. People have forgotten they need to pay for content!

Great image (and pp) by the way.

Of course I can't give my stuff away!

You're not alone mate ;)

Cheers :)

I didn't mean it like that haha! Generally if I'm not happy, the image won't make the cut. When the Mrs tells me to wisen up a bit, it can sway me ha! It's a good dynamic we have as she's clueless about photography and PP so when she says she likes something, it must look ok to the average viewer. There's some photos I take that I love and she flat out tells me she doesn't like it :/ I still post those ones anyway ha!

That's it, exactly. Same as what Kenoh said earlier about giant Ikea canvas prints etc.

Glad you liked the image. You'd be surprised with the PP involved. I'll post the original if you'd like, it's not too different from the finished article.

Vegas Bling. Processed with a Velvia film emulation to make it really pop. Comments always appreciated.

Las Vegas Bling
by another scotsman, on Flickr

Fantastic shot that just oozes Las Vegas in every way anotherscotsman...love it.

This is my second attempt at photographing the Moon. It's just not something I do frequently.

CAMERA Sony SLT-A77V
LENS Sony 70-300mm F4-5.6 G SSM II (SAL70300G2)
ISO 400
FOCAL LENGTH 300.0 mm (450.0 mm in 35mm)
APERTURE f/22
EXPOSURE TIME 0.01667s (1/60)

Not to be critical as the shot worked but there should be no reason to shoot the moon at f/22. I mention this because most lenses are far from their sharpest when when stepped-down that far. I don't know that lens but I'm guessing something around f/8 may be around the sharp sweet spot and you don't need depth of field for what is essentially a flat surface when viewed at that distance.

As some of you were keen to see the original SOOC shot from my post the other day, here it is. I can't actually believe how squint the horizon was - I normally get it straight as possible using the built in level but I was working quickly to set up I suppose.

For the love of god! how do you get those colours straight out of camera!?!?

There's really no such thing as "SOOC". You can't view a RAW file without some interpretation of it. So either his camera (if it's an in-camera jpeg) or his default RAW file processing software that brought out those colors.

I find I'm actually preferring this version more, even though the sun is clearly blown out. Fix the horizon line and call it done. :)

Still better than my PPd shots.

On my X-T2 I shoot landscapes with the Velvia film simulation for the added contrast and saturation or the default Provia sim. I shoot the film stock for both of these as well. The colour here is a combination of the Lee Big Stopper mixed with a Lee 0.9 hard Grad, which can strengthen / deepen the colour and contrast. Combined with the shot being underexposed a wee bit, it creates the effect.

I know what you are saying and agree that there are interpretations. However, this was how the file came out my camera before any editing took place - that's what people asked about. I could have shown the version using the Adobe LR standard profile - but it looks flatter tonally with too much desaturation. If I'd used C1 or Iridient it would look different again. I'm showing what I started with and where I got to. For what it's worth I think the Fuji film simulations (which are essentially 'profiles' with other manufacturers) are pretty accurate to the films they represent. I appreciate you prefer the 'SOOC' version but I feel the colour was a bit unnatural so tried to bring it back a bit!

Yes, maybe I should have said "with minimal breathing on it"... :)

I am undecided they are both very nice but maybe the increased contrast in the "post" version just takes the spot for me.
