No, I don't think so. It has a painting kind of feel to it, although that red buoy won't put many fires out ;)

Cheers :)

So last weekend, we had a -5ºC temperature with snow and all that. Ever since Wednesday (remember, that's 4 days between -5ºC and +10ºC) we have a +10ºC temperature with no snow and the sun shining all over the place. Welcome to The Netherlands.

Living in Glasgow we know what a 15degree overnight shift feels like... Good luck with that... We went from even zero to 9 so not as bad but still in the realms of "now what do I wear?!?!"

What no owls, bears, birds or other assorted animals? You mean, Peter, you also do landscapes? ;-) I love the long exposure and softness/milkiness of the water and the layering between the rocks and the horizon.

Thanks Florian...I'm trying to broaden my horizons (pun intended). :)

I've tried different filters (screw-on and slide-in resin) but just wasn't happy with the results. I recently invested in a NISI system with glass filters and have to say I'm really impressed with the design, quality and images from them. And, they're less expensive than some of the big name competitors.

If anyone is interested, a good review of the NISI filter system can be found here: Photography Life

The seascape shot was taken at sunrise with 2 stacked filters: A 3 stop reverse grad ND filter (to control highlights from the sun) and a 3 stop ND filter to slow-down the shutter speed to 1.6 sec.

Oh come on Peter! Why can't you be a one trick pony? ;)

Great shot.

What a beautiful place. Nice to see you don't just own a 500mm lens!

Thanks MacRy and AFB...much appreciated.

That sir is beautiful! Really nice details in the sky. Lovely... I am l liking ultra wide angle right now.

Only thing on this would be maybe a lower angle and get some foreground detail to give it depth.
Thank you very much :)

Cheers :)

I'm really not into BIF or general 'bird' photography but when I went to the feeding station at Laurieston, D&G around 2-3 years ago, I had to take a camera. I borrowed a friend's Canon 60D and 70-200mm f4L IS. I really liked this shot, despite it not being completely sharp. They move so fast in these situations and an unthinkable shutter would have been required. This was at 200mm (cropped down) and shot at 1/1000, f4, ISO 800. I like it for what it is though - but I doubt I'll be in a hurry to do BIF photography again.

Bear with me as I post a few pictures over the next few days from Graffiti Alley in Baltimore, and area where building owners and police allow artists free reign. There is almost always something going on.

This day there was a guy taking pictures of himself doing handstands, a group shooting video involving smoke bombs, a couple taking pictures (like me), and a graffiti artist creating his next masterpiece with an onlooker (co-conspirator?). Oh, and some of the graffiti is really good.

The kettle has made me start to really think about light and pushed me into learning about controlling light. Bought some radio speed lights. Next version of the kettle. Got rid of the specular highlights related to the triggering flash on my Nikon. Now figuring out/learning all the other aspects of lighting this very challenging subject. Rather than starting simple, I chose something that is far from simple. Possible you'll be seeing more of this subject as I figure it out ;)
