Not sure I got this composition right, but I thought it was a pretty scene.

Looking at your website, you have some beautiful flower shots.

I like this photo. Composition looks great.

Thank you Apple fanboy1. I've taken lots of online classes and training sessions. I have come a long way since I picked up my camera in 2012. I appreciate you taking the time to look at my site. I am always open to suggestions, or comments on my photos. That's how I learn.

Thank you for your lovely comment - I have an old Panasonic G1 camera that has been converted to IR, meaning that the filter over the sensor has been replaced with one that only lets infrared light through, in this case 680nm.
In post processing, if the red / blue channels are swapped then saturation boosted you can get the so called 'goldie' effect you see in my photos.

Cheers :)

Hi @Hughmac ,
Ahh, so you converted a camera to infrared. I've read articles on how to do this, but I don't have an old camera lying around. So I guess my option would be to get a filter. I currently use B+W filters. I noticed they come in different filter types so how would I know which filter to get...i.e. Dark red, 093 filter, etc? Here's the link I am looking at: https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/search?Ntt=B+W infrared filters&N=0&InitialSearch=yes&sts=ma&Top+Nav-Search=

Seeing your photos has given me more motivation to try this.

Thanks for the feedback on rose 2.0 @kgphotos its a single frame shot at 70mm with a 36mm extension tube, ISO 800, f/22, 5 secs, cropped a tiny bit. I did a similar one last year (aka rose 1.0) with totally different settings but with a similar look.

Thanks for your reply gaswerks. I'm going to make a note of this and give it a shot the next time I shoot a rose.

Kite surfers

Great capture!
Yesterday it hit above 70 degrees where I live and I went to the beach. A lot of kites were flying, not to mention the beach was packed. Today, is another story. Snow is coming.

Actually I cheated and bought a camera on eBay that was already professionally converted. It cost me £135 ($190) but with no work to do except add a lens.
If you go the same way I would buy a camera brand you already have lenses for, for example the old Nikon D50 / D70 / D80s are excellent for conversion, likewise older Canons.
I had a D70 for a while but stupidly sold it on, but since going micro 4/3 it made sense for me to get a Panasonic body.

Cheers :)

That's a great tip. Thank you! I'll check to see what's on eBay. I would need a Canon camera since that's what my lenses are. If I don't see anything, then I will probably go the filter route.

Another exploration from last week for long-exposure potentials. This was just quickly edited in Lightroom, so the sky detail is quite lacking, but it's a spot I want to get back to for more, and hopefully the cloud gods play nicely for me when I'm able to go again.
