Sorry, going to be torturing you with pics as I learn and experiment with lighting. The previous pic of the orange was taken with a softbox. Shot it again the next day with a 22 inch beauty dish wit a diffusor on the front. Changed the composition a bit to include more of the stool. The light ended up being smaller relative to the orange which impacted the nature of the shadows and the specular highlights. But still quite a bit softer/more muted respectively than a 7 inch reflector I also shot it with. Not necessarily my best work, but better than the previous pic. As an aside, I like the tension created by having the left leg of the stool in shadow. The asymmetry is interesting, at least to me :)

Kallisti.... Suggestions to consider...... Y'know what I'm thinking would make the image even more interesting and striking? Put a bright blue or green or yellow or some other color cloth over the stool, something which offers a vivid contrast to the orange -- just as it's important to have contrast in B&W it's also important when shooting in color. To me, the blah brown top of the stool adds no interest to the current image and actually almost detracts from the orange. A bright blue cloth or bright yellow cloth along with that orange would make the whole image much more dynamic and eye-catching. Or drape a black cloth over the stool and stick the orange on a brightly colored plate or in a bowl for that punch of color and contrast. And, yes, you would still learn from your experiments with lighting, too. Shadow on the orange and on the stool top looks good, I like that.

Mmm Bates Hamburgers!!! They were celebrating 60 years of doing business in Livonia, Michigan.

I thought this was a White Castle at first glance. Are the burgers at Bates like those at White Castle? I know they are bad for you and all but every now and then I really miss them not living in Michigan anymore and picking a few White Castle burgers. :)

I have to say the DJI Osmo Pocket takes pretty nice panorama pictures, for such a small sensor and gimbal. This is Shelden Park Village located in Livonia, Michigan, where the front of the stores were getting a renovation and all it needs now is to fix the parking lot again.
