Prairie is a difficult landscape to photograph in many ways because it's vast and pretty empty. Usually what you see is "off in the distance" and you're surrounded by grassland, as is the case here. This is from the archives from May of 2020, a few months into the pandemic. This area is under the flight path of Denver International Airport and it can be noisy at times. There were very few planes flying then, which was wonderful. You could hear the Meadowlarks and other birds very clearly. There's a lot of life in this landscape, believe it or not. The landscape itself can become interesting with the play of light as clouds roll through.

I actually like the open range quite a bit (lived in Kansas for many years). It can get a bit much at times because the wind pretty much never quits, but you get the best skies in the open country. It kinda becomes the subject matter. It’s no wonder many astronauts have come from the Great Plains states. You spend a lot of time looking up!

I like it a lot too. I grew up in SE Georgia near the coast and you got big sky looking out to sea but inland (Savannah) it was hard to see the sky for the trees. My mother from Savannah or my work colleagues from Philly get rather nervous around all the open sky when they visit. :)

Similarly, I feel more claustrophobic when I visit them.

wow, I'm planning a trip to Hotel del Coronado and hope to be on that bridge someday soon.
That’s awesome. You are going to love it. It gives you an amazing view of downtown San Diego and the bay. Make sure you drive slow. Also, it looks very pretty at night. The reflection of the street lights is just amazing. Stay tuned I’ll post a night shot tomorrow for ya :)

i grew up in western pennsylvania farmland. we had rolling hills but wide vast skies that i miss so much. i live in an area with way too many trees for my liking. i crave the open.

Yeah, it takes some adjusting, but once that happened, I find that I prefer it.
This bridge takes you from Coronado Island to San Diego, California or vise versa. ☁️

Been across this one a few times. I always think of the scene from Anchorman when I see it now.
