I had no choice in positioning myself for this image. I could only look through the doorway. It was cordoned off as part of an historical building. The light is what caught my eye.

Posted something similar in the past. Side door to my house. I like the shadows cast by the light. For this version I included the window to the right. May shoot it again after the next snow to see how the foreground looks white rather than black. Have a feeling I am going to prefer this one though.

Taken with a 24mm prime. ISO 64, f/8, 5 sec. Cropped to vertical.

Where is this?

I am rather a fan of old buildings, and museums. Many such places do not allow photography - at least, not photography with flash. But, your picture is very interesting...

The following will give you some idea of what Heritage Village is about:

That photo I shared was mostly natural light. For some reason, the entire site had really wonderful light that day. I tried to capture as much of it as I could.

Thank you for replying and for sharing.

For myself, I much prefer natural light if I can at all avail of it - I far prefer the 'look' it gives. What time of day was it - that light has the look of morning but maybe late morning light flooding - perhaps summer? - about it.

It was mid afternoon in mid December if I recall.

For something along the same lines as the heritage village that was posted but in the UK, you should check out Chiltern Open Air Museum. I think it would be right up your alley.

I went a while back and took a load of photos and thoroughly enjoyed it.

Some very nice images there, and ye, you are quite right; they are indeed 'right up my alley'. I love those sort of places, there is so much to see and learn (and I might as well add, relish and savour, too). Thank you for posting them.

I have never actually visited Leeds castle, so thanks for posting this. Very interesting.

Light on the Langdale Fells after days of gloom...

Lovely light rendition - a bleak winter shot, redeemed by that wonderful natural light. Great colours. Thanks for sharing.

If you live nearby, you could drop by my place and borrow our annual tickets - we only live about 20 miles from there, and it's quite expensive to get in for just one visit :)

Cheers :)
