We received about 14.5" of snow in my neck of the woods this weekend, my wife and I went out with a couple buddies today that are off-road enthusiasts and we had a great time running through the hills and backroads of West Virginia. We came upon a truck stuck along the side of the road so we got out and used one of my friends' winches to get him out, along with a lot of pushing. Glad we got there, poor guy would have been stuck for a while without us.

This was taken after that, when we stopped at one of my friend's grandfather's houses to check on him as he lives way out from town and doesn't drive. It was a great day.

Interesting replies to this post. A bunch on UK types joking around with a West Virginia 4 wheeler who's idea of 14 inches of snow on winding mountain roads is to go out and play. I'm from Ohio and you would not believe how insane these roads are. And the people who drive them.

Partially J/K...

EDIT: From the West Virginia section of an On-Line storm report:
Roman Catholics were relieved of their obligation to attend Mass because of the snowstorm, as Bishop Michael J. Bransfield encouraged prayers for those in the path of the storm.

Where are the chips? Food pictures should be banned as some of us are on diets! Lost nearly a stone since 27/12/15.

I need to go on a diet... One of the neighbours kindly noted me carrying a few winter pounds. What diet you on? Buy a lens cant afford to eat diet? :)

Have serial with skimmed milk (as I have for years) in the morning. A very small lunch like salad or a small pot of chocolate custard. Then boiled white rice and a chicken breast with a vegetable in the evening. No alcohol whatsoever. It's called the miserable diet!

Anyway back on topic.

Me too. I went back to work after Xmas and was greeted by a colleague immediately saying "Have you put on weight?" When I said that I had they replied "You've gone from being decorative to merely......comical" Good pep talk :)

I like bridges. I need to go visit Dublin.
[doublepost=1453663207][/doublepost]So here in Savannah we kind of missed the snow, the ice, you know all that Jonas stuff. So we can't brag on how cold it was or how we went out and made snowmen or shoveled out our cars. Sigh. Well we got this! That's right, the Oscar Mayer Wienermobile!!!!! Oh yeah, I got a whistle too. Guys and gals across the pond might not get this but here in the States these things are history. Apologies for two pics but I just had to add the second one.

I've been putting on weight for years. I put none on over Christmas as I decided not to have any extras in the house.
Part of my issue is lack of exercise. Maybe I'll just have to start lugging that 200-500 round a bit

Heavier lenses work well for exercise.

"No alcohol whatsoever"...that's truly barbaric.

That's great !!!!! Haven't seen one of these things in the wild for years !!! This looks like a newer version than the one I remember from when I was a kid . Think they were built of Ford frames then . Be fun to have one to drive around for a day , so long as you didn't have to parallel park it .

Thanks. The no alcohol is tough, but I don't drink that much anyhow. But a couple of pints is like having an extra meal, so it had to go.

Much to my surprise, a lot of the roads we went on weren't terrible as many of the locals around those areas own farms and use their tractors to plow the roads. It was kind of cool to see people out there "taking care of their own" as one of them put it. I am very much a city boy, I've only started hiking in the past few years with my wife and I've never been on a true camping trip.

I've grown close to these friends though and their love for the outdoors is very intriguing. It definitely makes me want to do more and I am proud to know some folks who's first response to anyone pulled over as we were out there driving around was to see if they needed help.

Now as for Ohio drivers ;).... I kid.
