Glad you made it out safely and that your personal items were unaffected by the fire as well. What a back story to this great photo.

Maybe not, but it's still a lovely shot.

So you guys might not like this one but I kind of like it. I was messing about with the camera and my 4 year old was running round. She was running crazy and kept coming into my office, seeing the camera and darting away as I took a picture of her. She was giggling and laughing, loving it. In amongst the shots was this one and for some reason I kind of like the motion blur and the ghost effect especially in the way you can almost make her out. Oh, yes! I forgot, yes, I know I need to sand and paint the door... it is on the list of renovation tasks but not got to it yet... so excuse the nasty door.

Enjoy it whilst it lasts. As my little one gets bigger I have less and less photos of her.

Just got back from spending 5 days in Yosemite National Park. Here's a photos of The Three Brothers taken along the Merced River which winds it's way through the Yosemite Valley. Unfortunately, it's under several flight paths so occasionally I couldn't avoid contrails. I guess I may have some work to do in post-processing.View attachment 612345
Great Yosemite pix !! I'm jealous . Was out there 3 years ago in September and couldn't get a real good picture of anything in the Valley owing to smoke from the forest fires . There for 5 days! , hope you stayed at the Ahwanee !

Cracking shot. But who was stalking who?

Thanks AFB and sometimes I do wonder.

Man that is awesome. Your wildlife shots are inspirational Peter.

Thanks Mac...very much appreciated. A lot of effort went into getting this shot but I did get lucky with the light. It was sunny and far too bright during the day. Bright sun and snow is not a great combination. Then, with the last light of the day, this shot happened. It was one of those moments when you say to yourself "WOW...that's really great light" and more than seeing on the camera screen, you feel it.

What lens did you use?

Nikon 500 f/4.0

These are great shots Florian. With the deep shadows and bright highlights in every view, Yosemite is so hard to capture well but you've done it beautifully.

Went for a wander around Holborn at lunchtime and stumbled across a camera shop. I obviously had to go in. Wish I hadn't though as they had a used Summicron in there for £670 and I happened to have my A7 with me sporting an M-mount adapter.

The look on the guy's face is "You're not buying this are you....."

Just need to get one of my lesser used internal organs on ice now so I can go back and get it.

I'll be disappointed if you pass it up!

I'm going to have to disappoint us both I'm afraid as that's way out of my price range. If it was 3 or 4 hundred I could do it,but not £670. Never going to find a decent one at that price though so it will have to remain a dream :(

Really nice lens though. So tiny and felt really well made. Crazy sharp too. Ah well *sigh*

It is really well made and is sharp. HOWEVER... It is not £670 better than you have already. The output from that Voigt 50 you have is plenty nice. Don't torture yourself.

There is a Nokton 50mm f1.1 on the bay right now but I cant see it offering anything over my existing lenses. So I am resisting.

But it's so pretty..... ;)

The Voigt 50 is great but it's pretty heavy and bulky and oh my god I've just this second realised I could sell it and buy the Summicron!

Who wants to buy a Nokton 50mm 1.5? :)

You are , of course , aware that the instant you get the money in your hands from the sale of the Nokton , someone else will go into that shop and buy the 'cron .

Christ! You sound like me! What have we turned you into?!?!

In all honesty you cant go wrong with a summicron but check the bay, there are a few on there cheaper than that but dont kniw about quality. The Summicron is just as good whether it was made last month or last millennium. It is still awesome.

Imagine the damage we could do if we went shopping for lenses together!
