Another kiddo pic.

Taken with a Sigma 35mm f/1.4 Art lens for a Nikon mount. I like the lens in general, but have been frustrated by the relative frequency of it failing to "lock on" with auto-focus. Seems to be a common complaint. When it works, I love it. When it doesn't, it's annoying.

I find this image still pleasing with the focus on the toy in the foreground, but intended the focus to be on the face of my son when I shot it. The lens wouldn't "lock on" though, so I shifted to the toy in foreground. Have a Nikon 35mm f/1.4G on the way as this is my favorite focal length for much of what I shoot, I can deal with the increased distortion of the Nikon with LR in post, and am tired of messing with the Sigma auto-focus issues.

No idea what it is but I find myself enjoying exploring this image. So much going on. Watch your highlights though. :)

Public Market Center is on the waterfront of Elliott Bay in Seattle Washington. This market is more commonly know as Pike Place Market.

And the birthplace of a global giant too right?

Yuuup...
When I moved to the Seattle area in '78 Starbucks was the coolest tea shop in Pike Place Market. Walls filled with glass jars of bulk tea and blends. Scuffed up wood floors, the whole deal. Got the best cold remedy ever there.

Nice shot, I often play with my 50/1.4 Nikon seeing how I can shift the emphasis in the shot with focus - mucho annoying when the camera chooses the wrong spot so I normally shoot in single-point, single focus and have the camera set to focus priority.

What AF point and mode did you use? Did you look to see which focus points the camera used?

If you are referring to Starbucks -Yes.

Seeing some of your excellent professional-like photos here, makes me feel somewhat humiliated in daring to share some of my 'snaps'.
This is an abandoned 'Lavoir' (wash-house) in SW France. These were communal outdoor washing places, often placed near a small stream, or where spring water was constantly available to refill the stone troughs. Some are known to date back to the 10th century.
One can observe here the central, curved stone slab, highly polished from hundreds of years of scrubbing of linen, soap and water. Easy to imagine here, the ghosts of ladies gossiping loudly, and singing washing songs.

I was but was trying not to imply anything around quality of product or whether I admired them... :)

See, a mate of mine growing up in the UK now works at NASA at Goddard on the Hubble telemetry. He is in a similar situation in that, whenever anyone asks him where he works and he says NASA, then conversation is over. No one EVER needs to say "oh, what do they do?"... just like Boeing... :)
