Back of Darth Vader’s helmet?

LOL! Nope..... Actually no one would ever be able to figure this one out! I had bought a clear, highly reflective acrylic thingy for the desk which has divided sections for files or envelopes, because the shape of it was rather intriguing to me and I envisioned some interesting photo possibilities.... When I started out shooting it, I tried different ideas and nothing was quite "jelling," so I decided to see what would happen if I used just one light source facing the camera and shooting through the thing. Draped a diffuser cloth over the black foam core I had in place, then tucked a small LED panel under that, aiming at the camera, with the thingy placed on its side rather than its normal position, and was rather surprised at the results. The subject was positioned on a piece of shiny black art paper. So, no Darth Vader involved! :)

Thanks! More accidental than actually creative, I daresay! I definitely will be experimenting more with this particular subject, since it offers other possibilities for photos. This is what I so enjoy about photography: seeing something and immediately some ideas come to mind about how to shoot it, and then actually setting things up and trying out different approaches. Sometimes they don't work out, and other times they do, with results I hadn't anticipated. It had been a long time since I've done any of this kind of stuff with macro/closeups/tabletop, and I'm really loving it!
