I have fantastic memories of this place. We took my parents with us to England back in 2011, a year before my father died (and was the last time I actually saw him). He and I had a great day out here. He was an advertiser and commercial photographer (amongst many other things) and we had a great "photography-based day" with the Abbey ruins but also of course with the tie to Fox Talbot and the beginnings of photography in the 1830s. What a grand day!

It really is a fascinating place and quite recognizable from so many films that have done shooting there.

Depending on what source you read, there are anywhere from nine to fifteen different varieties of Tree Frogs in North Carolina. I have seen 3 of them. I love the Tree Frogs. The American Green variety is what I see the most, but this little guy (Cope’s Gray Treefrog) caught my attention this past August. I see them on the house, in the garden, and sometimes even on a tree. They make good photographic subjects.
