Thanks everyone for the kind words. I continue to experiment when the mood strikes and I've been trying to get out my DLSR more. Hopefully I'll get more competent (in many ways) with more practice.

Is that the Miller Lash House?

Btw, posting here is a great way to learn.

The wedding was actually at McMicheals north of the city. It's has beautiful grounds but the weather kept us indoors for most of the reception.

I joined my father as a navigator for an Italian car ride event and I took my DSLR along for the ride. A big old 50's era pontiac showed up where we stopped for lunch and it provided an opportunity for an interesting frame.

Very pretty shot Tom that would benefit with a bit of straightening. It appears quite high on the right (or low on the left).

Thank you Peter, I have noticed that too after posting - I've straightened it first but definitely not enough!

A long exposure water shot from today's hike to nearby waterfalls.

Nice one Tom! The thing I really love about these sort of little waterfalls is the ability to trick the viewers eye, if there are no visual scale giveaways! They were my starting grounds for long-exposures and I was just using a cheap variable ND filter to get an idea of how it all worked. Now, I have a plethora of 100mm x 100mm (4" x 4") high quality ND filers. They are not cheap and you will discover every light leak that your lens / body / filter system has! I use an old soft lens case over my set-up now, so I get no leaks anywhere and I shoot tethered to my 13" MBP.

Thanks for the comment! Absolutely, this waterfall has a few sections with different angles, lengths and heights so I really enjoyed shooting it. Nice, I'm using 77mm ND filters, both 10-stop and fader made by Light Craft Workshop, not the top of the range for sure but a really good value IMHO.

Thanks for the tip, I've been covering the viewfinder but that was all so I definitely try to cover the whole system with a lens cloth or something, good to know!

Nice. Looks like some classic MGs and an Alfa Spider in the reflection. Quality classics.

Well with that shot I think I got the framing right. I had three goals 1) Capture reflection of the cars in the mirrored section of the headlight 2) Minimize my own reflection (done by hiding myself in the chrome rim of the headlight) and 3) capturing the newer Fiat 500's in the chrome headlight surround.

Now there was one factor I couldn't control which is the smudges and natural curve in the reflector that distorted the reflective image. (The Pontiac owner wasn't around when I took the picture and I wasn't going to wipe the reflector without explicit consent!). The other thing that might have helped clear the image was a tripod to get an extra stable image (and maybe a slightly slower shutter speed). But that's just one after thought I had.

By the way IIRC the clearer cars in the main reflector from right to left are my dad's red 1969 Alfa spider (1300 Junior), a light blue Fiat 124 spider, a 1960's Fiat 500 Abarth (with 695cc engine), yellow early 80's Alfa spider, after that it's a few more red Alfa spiders (both around mid 80's) and you can just barely see a black Alfa Milano after that.

I prefer this to yesterday's. A bit more dramatic. Nice.
I wish I lived near waterfalls.

Thank you - definitely taller and some light coming in through the trees from the left so a bit different. It's only like 20 miles from where I live so it was nice to explore it, first time for me actually.

Very Nice Tom..keep up the good work..

Thanks man, appreciate it - trying to learn with every shoot!

Thats incredible. Distortion is a bit off putting but amazing to see star fields and moon in same image. How did you do that? Single frame or stacked?

Thanks! Yeah, the fisheye lens messes with things a bit! It's a single exposure - but the moon was only about half-full which helped keep its brightness in check.
