I keep coming back to this one. Something about the lines. Nice.

Thanks, Ken. She's a strong building in many ways, with the lines you mentioned, and lots of repetition of patterns creating those lines. She also sits perfectly with all her neighbours and has those great crossover pedestrian bridges, that in her hey-day would ferry the various wool-graders from warehouse to warehouse, quickly. I'm saddened that they have sat empty and disused for the greater part for so long. As kids, we used to climb around in there, taking our lives into absolute risk. I wouldn't dare step on the old support/pathway timbers now.

I have a series of long exposures and night captures planned for this area soon.

Great timing.

Mine for today as I finally went out yesterday. It was sunny when I left, cloudy when I arrived, and raining when I decided to head home.
Witley Court is not the best stately home to visit when it rains. It has no roof! _DSC1867 by apple fanboy1, on Flickr

I played with this fountain for a while with different length exposures. I think I prefer the slow ones, but as they only put it on for a few minutes every hour, it was difficult to get a clean shot without people.

I think the long exposure played also nicely with the sky, I really like the dramatic effect it created above the building and fountain, good job AFB.

Thats really nice!

Thank you! There was a lot of light pollution as I couldn't get out of the city more and there is quite a lot of noise in the pic but it was nice to see them even though it's nothing compared to what you are able to see in Scandinavia, Iceland etc.

I could only see the one at first. Clearly you need that new 600mm so you don't have to point these things out!

I agree AFB. In fact, I told my wife that you are fully supporting my purchase of the new 600mm. She replied that, given the cost of $16,000 for that lens, perhaps I would be happier married to you. I said to her that you are already married to which my dear wife suggested that, under the circumstances, I had better come up with an alternate plan.

Too bad MacRumors doesn't have a singles dating section. :)

Well then, we'd better start a fund for you - if I donate $44 then I expect my one day's use in a year out of the lens.

Cheers :)

This could work Hugh! I'll crunch some numbers and get back to you. Btw, my wife suggested that you could do something with the lens that, given it's size, I think would be anatomically impossible.

You like a challenge @Apple fanboy ? Getting separation from the fountain and the sky is a nice one to set yourself! Then add in the one minute every hour bit, nice one again!

I don't know how I'd approach it. Probably checking out the natural light and when it helps to separate out the building from the fountain and going back every now and then, until you hit the right sort of skies to give you the separation needed. Don't be afraid to merge image (composite) bits to give you the whole image, especially if you have the Adobe Photography package.

May the force be with you on this one, it could be a spectacular image when you get it and you'll probably just get it in camera too!

Some building outside Tower tube station today.

It sorta looks like a secret landing pad for the Tardis up on top there, especially with those blue tones, or for an inter dimensional ice-cream delivery service maybe? We all know you Brit's have better ice-cream than the French and you are holding out on the rest of us!

Seriously though, well spotted and captured. I like the stark differences between the light and dark sections. I'm more and more impressed with you and your kit.

Thanks AFB.

Fun fact...there are two chicks riding on the female's back in this shot. The second is tucked under her far-side wing having a snooze.

I did notice the large white circle/spot and wondered if it was part of the back of a second bubba.

Only $16K for your lens? Makes my dream technical camera setup look paltry at around a quarter of that for a Sinar 4 or 5 kit, with a couple of good lenses for landscape and architecture.

Just another orchid. I gave this one to the Mother-In-Law for Christmas of 2013 and she absolutely loved it, for it's form and that the thing just kept on flowering and flowering for months under her skylight!

I tried to take some images that were not your traditional, straight on type images and it was a really hard exercise to do. The light is actually softish indirect light on our dining table, from the large bank of dining room windows facing to the South. Think soft, Northern light for those of you that live up and over...
