Bought a Fuji XT3 at the weekend. What a great camera. Kit lens is also excellent
Technically this was taken on a different day
Sorry forgot to add. Taken underwater with iPhone 8 Plus in the Bahamas.
What case did you use to take the phone under water?
No case, I never do. I’m actually on my way to snorkel now in west palm.
Damn, hope the water resistance hold in salty water.
I’d certainly rinse it in tap water. Can’t see it being any different than fresh water
Mind the gap!
Smartphone waterproofing is not really a guarantee, and water damage is not covered under warranty. At best, I would only trust it to the point of getting splashed from a rain shower, or maybe the occasional drop to the toilet. Once you get so deep into the water, pressure does its thing, and water always tries to find a way. The rating is only good for 1m for up to 30 minutes. The insides are not waterproof, so you are counting on seals and gaskets to keep the inside dry. Can’t see it being any different than fresh water

I’m sure their rating is conservative, like any good engineering project. I just would be apprehensive about your use case. I’m sure if you asked Apple, Samsung, etc, they would advise against taking their phones into the water intentionally. Certainly they would not like going below the 1m rating or for prolonged periods of time.I’ve brought my phone multiple times underwater in the last 2 years. I have apple care and every time they’ve had to do something to the phone they haven’t found any water inside. I got the screen replaced about a month ago. I’d say the deepest I’ve had it was 10 ft or so. Maybe I’ve just been lucky.
