I’ll weigh in that OOF can be useful in graphic art work. An OOF shot like the ones recently posted here would be great backdrops to something like a website front end or a brochure where substantial text is overlaid on top. The lack of sharpness in the backdrop helps from detracting from the hard lines of the text. Just my own $.02.

Gator country? I’d not even want to be in the boat!
Actually, the lake is across the street from me and in 20 years, while the occasional "gator" report by neighbors, have never seen, or more likely, heard the grunt. Also have never seen nor heard reports of poisonous snakes (Copperhead, Water Moccasin) along shoreline or in people's yards. Doesn't mean that there are not any, and I have been very close in other settings (kayak and hiking) - with pictures to prove - but just keep normal watchful eye for snakes in particular.

This is the same butterfly from yesterday's post. My daughter and I were dismayed to see a catbird hopping on the ground with the missing piece of wing. I'm normally a "let nature take its course" kind of person with regard to wildlife, but now I have a decided disdain for catbirds.

Yeah, butterflies appear to have a tough life. Seems like many of the big ones I see have something missing in the wing department. I always wondered how they take shelter during severe weather. They are all wings—seems like they would just blow away!
