For @Clix Pix who enjoyed this one for almost exactly the same reasons as I captured it! It was the light, the almost devoid nature of colour in the scene, the natural and unnatural detritus, the momentary puddle allowing a reflection of the mundane courtyard architecture before it evaporated away becoming slightly moss covered paver's again that caught my eye here.

This place has an interesting history, from a teacher training dormitory originally, it became a lodging for an altruistic but very Patriarchal cult that has since moved interstate after the leader was charged with teenage sexual abuses, to then becoming a dumping ground for a palatially grand manor next door! A couple of urban exploring acquaintances that I feel at ease with and myself were able to have a look around in there this Sunday passed. It is one of those places only to be explored once by myself, there is not the history or age of particular interest to me in my urban and rural explorations to illicit a desire for return.

Love the story behind the photos.

Still at the old dormitory where this little vignette really tickled my fancy. The idea of destressing by colouring between the lines has always amused me slightly; there's no judgement from me if that's your thing. It's the idea of doing an exercise in conformity to relax that amuses me! Anyway, back to the vignette I stumbled upon, it's the dichotomy of conformist approved relaxation Vs the freeform of graffiti, which is creative and rebellious that made me laugh out loud as the graffiti fell from the book when I flicked through it to see that it had been completely untouched, but had this hidden within it! 😍 ✊

Thinking of using this as a book cover for a book I am writing. Darn cameras are just too sharp these days! The original photo was too crisp showing every detail and some distracting lights on a parking garage. Used in Painter with acrylic brushes to create the painting. I am probably a couple of weeks away from publishing. Text written, now bring into InDesign, adding photos and enhancing formatting.

What’s the book about?

What’s the book about?
Probably should have put the mock-up with lettering that would be used for the e-book version. Still have to work on back cover and spline for print version. With the mockup, no longer a 'working title' but "Central Florida - Beyond the Theme Parks" Around 100 thing (thought of a few more last night) the locals do within 100 miles and a limiting budget of free to $20 which eliminated a lot including all theme parks, plus eliminated activities that change too much (restaurants/nightclubs) making book obsolete before printed, and those that could have a book in and of themselves (golf courses, etc).

While wanting to do this for a while, it became one of my isolation projects.

I spent four days in Florida as a teenager. All I saw were theme parks.
