Well I'm home now, but we spent a week at Surf City, NC on Topsail Island (an hour or so from Wilmington, NC).
Lucky you. I was at the beach yesterday on the south coast of Finland but unfortunately we don't get waves here to speak of.

Nice. That is where I use to go when I lived in Jacksonville, NC (worked as a civilian at Camp LeJeune.) Had another one to the north but before the Outer Banks that had to take a passenger ferry (or personal boat) to access then follow the path over the dunes. Looked at map today and don't see it, so may have washed away, or perhaps that bridge that now crosses over with the small development called Onslow Beach. Topsail was a lot easier.

I was literally watching a documentary today that featured this plane.
They land here at Ted Stevens Anchorage International very often. This airport could pretty much be described as the refueling hub for the world. It has been rightly said that 1/4 to 1/3 of all 747s in the air at any one time are going to or coming from PANC.

For @Clix Pix who enjoyed this one for almost exactly the same reasons as I captured it! It was the light, the almost devoid nature of colour in the scene, the natural and unnatural detritus, the momentary puddle allowing a reflection of the mundane courtyard architecture before it evaporated away becoming slightly moss covered paver's again that caught my eye here.

This place has an interesting history, from a teacher training dormitory originally, it became a lodging for an altruistic but very Patriarchal cult that has since moved interstate after the leader was charged with teenage sexual abuses, to then becoming a dumping ground for a palatially grand manor next door! A couple of urban exploring acquaintances that I feel at ease with and myself were able to have a look around in there this Sunday passed. It is one of those places only to be explored once by myself, there is not the history or age of particular interest to me in my urban and rural explorations to illicit a desire for return.
