Scored a used 45mm 1.8 for cheap. Very small and fun.

I’ve never seen a squirrel quite as relaxed as yours. He doesn’t look like he’s about to leave anytime soon.

Yep, he knows a good thing when he sees it! LOL! He did finally leave yesterday, without me having to chase him, which was surprising. I guess he'd had his fill! He is back today, now dining on sunflower seeds in the orange tray while a couple of sparrows are feasting on their birdseed in the wooden tray. Everybody's happy!

You are getting better at this type of photography each day! Really like it.
I appreciate the comment! I’m trying to be a bit more conscious of my backdrop on these macros, at least when it can be helped. Also, I do like the E-M5’s zoom feature, where I have a button programmed to zoom digitally for more precise focusing. That way I can get the head in clean focus. The butterfly was taken with a used 75-300, so the technique and lots of practice seems to be helping. :)

Has he worked out yet that one tray is for him, and the other is for the sparrows, & that he is supposed to leave the contents of the other tray strictly alone?

Not quite..... He still heads for the wooden tray and grabs what he can there, too, to the displeasure of the sparrows! I've reminded him that, "hey, the orange tray is for you -- all for you, with really lovely sunflower seeds! Go enjoy those!"

He still likes getting into the wooden tray's contents, too, though, and that's where you see him in the image above, at the wooden tray even though the orange one with sunflower seeds is a short distance away! He started out today with birdseed in the wooden tray and then gravitated over to the orange tray, where he spent some time stuffing himself with sunflower seeds, and from what I can see from here, he pretty well cleaned out the lot! I'll have to dump out the detritus and refill after a while, when I've returned from the grocery store.

With him busy at the orange tray, the sparrows then were able to get at their birdseed and they've been coming-and-going to the tray ever since. They've also checked out the sunflower seeds, when Smaug hasn't been there, and I think some of them like those as well, although they all seem to prefer the smaller seeds.

The cesspit of civilization
But they are just having a cuddle! ;)
Last year I saw a video of a family in a zoo watching a lion "cuddling" with a lioness, with the boy asking (in Spanish) "What is he doing mom?" and the mother hurryingly responding while leaving "he's cuddling her sweetie, just cuddling, let's go, let's go, don't watch..."

Right now I can't find it, but it was funny.

Last night's playtime! Over two metres of slider with pan and tilt movements for a sunset timelapse at the location I had intended to be at last Monday. The pan and tilt section makes for quick and easy panoramas and 360 captures too. That was what I went on to play with after the sky was dark, creating five row by seven column pano's of the Milky Way.

For those tech-heads out there it's a Syrp Carbon Fibre Magic Carpet Slider, using the Genie II Motion unit and two Genie Mini's for the pan and tilt section. You can actually find your nodal point on this thing too.

At the moment I am using a ballhead to get my horizon level, but there is a lowline device coming that will minimise any movement for that purpose of achieving a level, so it sits lower and has no sidewards movement whilst sliding. It's very clever, with the ability to program it so it pauses between frame captures. I know that my coastline is rather windy, so I want to stabilise everything as much as possible.

That’s all very nice, but where can we see the fruit of your labour? You can’t tease us like that!

The geese are not happy that Alfred has usurped the base of the lake's fountain, which is temporarily off due to power outages from storms which have messed up the timing device..... They like to hang out there, standing and sitting and schmoozing, but not this morning! Last I looked Alfred was still there....

(Shot at quite a distance from my deck with Sony A7R IV and 200-600mm with 1.4x TC mounted on the Wimberley gimbal)

Hey, Alfred, Get Off There, That's Our Fountain Base!.jpeg
